Florida governor and Republican-turned-independent Senate candidate Charlie Crist said in an interview on an Orlando television station today that he would have voted for the health care overhaul passed earlier this year - and then promptly claimed he "misspoke" and actually opposes the bill.
"I would have voted for it, but I think it can be done better," Crist said in the interview, the relevant portion of which which you can see at left. The comment seemed to reflect a change in position by the governor, who had stated previously he would have opposed the bill.
Not long after the video started making the rounds, Crist's campaign put out a statement from the governor saying "there may be some confusion regarding my position on health care."
"If I misspoke, I want to be abundantly clear: the health care bill was too big, too expensive, and expanded the role of government far too much," he said. "Had I been in the United States Senate at the time, I would have voted against the bill because of unacceptable provisions like the cuts to the Medicare Advantage program. But being an independent, I have the freedom to be an honest broker for the people of Florida without regard for political party, and the reality is this: despite its serious flaws, the health care bill does have some positive aspects."
Crist went on to back the "repeal and replace" stance of many Republicans when it comes to the health care bill.

A two headed Snake and a Skunk.
fyi
Crist is a !@#$%^&*! liar.
Crist is wishy washy and a flip flopper.
I wouldn’t vote for Crist for dog catacher let alone any other public office.
Crist isn’t even a republican anymore let alone a conservative. He’s about as democrat as they come. A far left RINO. Lipstick on a pig RINO.
Please, Florida, don’t listen to double-talk.
Forget John Kerry and Mitt Romney, Charlie Crist is clearly the biggest flip-flopper.
When a LIB claims he/she “MISSPOKE” that simply means they blurted out their true beliefs by mistake rather than the party-line/talking points view defined by their handlers & pollsters. Who’s surprised? It’s almost an Obama trademark.
I cannot believe anyone in Florida supports Crist other than far-left loons. IOW, Crist and Meeks should have the same base.
"Where's my industrial-size bottle of Coppertone...I'm starting to fade."
Perhaps Crist is not running as an Independent, but as an Indecisive?
“Misspoking” seems to be trend with Crist. A mind like that needs to be sent home to rest for a long, long time.
That is funny!
Just like Florida weather, wait fifteen minutes and Charlie will change his view.
Why hasn’t this snake been sued by Republican donors whose money he has refused to return? Come on, Floridians. You need to get some cajones.
Charlie is our green governor
It’s been too much fun watching the giant fall of Charliee Crist.
Only a few short years ago he was working everyone trying to get on the Republican ticket as V.P..
At the time he was an up and coming new govenor with great polls. In such a short time he went from That to being an outcast indie with NO future in politics.
Sorry Charlie, ya p.o.s.
He mispoke..which is Rat’ or Rino speak for accidently told the truth....
