9% is not a defining trend a little more then the % of homosexuals who get all the rights and attention, rubbish.

People with tatoos and piercings freak me out.

There was a time when these people would be in circus cages.

The craze for tattoos among young people is hard for me to fathom. In this state tattoo parlors are barely regulated and not inspected. The risk of getting hepatitis is real and injecting unknown pigments under the skin could have long term consequences.

My daughter has two (that I know of) tattoos, the above the butt “tramp stamp” and some doggerel verse on her abdomen. At least these can be covered with clothing. Her brother had the best comment and said her above the butt crack tramp stamp was the Chinese characters for "swipe ATM card here".

I shave my head over the compost pile...

I love the efficiency! I'll consider this for my next self-inflicted "shearing."

Yet there are still people out there who wonder what’s wrong with the country. Teeth whitening and tattoos for back to school? Does it get much shallower than that?

“Nothing like mutilating your beautiful daughters back with a Tramp Stamp.”

Agreed. The tats are a huge turnoff for me.

I agree with you both. I'm not a fan of tattoos, but what other people do is up to them... There's this tattoo artist named Kat Von D who has a "reality" show called "LA Ink." I watch it just to check out some of the art (and these people really are artists) and to listen the to the stories behind the tattoos. Kat is a very pretty young lady who has covered her body with tattoos, and her TV show has gotten her a lot of exposure, even extending to a make-up line, one of which is a "tattoo concealer.

Kat Von D as she really is:

Kat Von D without her tattoos:

I think that she's so much prettier without than with...

Mark

A tattoo of the Periodic Table on your forearm might be helpful....

Any parent who allows their kid to get a tattoo is a freaking moron.

When in was in high school , (Mid 1970's ), there was a "rich" girl of Italian heritage that had her nose done over the spring break.

There wasn't anything wrong with her nose as it was.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself) The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

As Neal Boortz has said for years, no woman was ever made prettier by the addition of a tattoo.

I say this is total bs. I know plenty of tattoo artists & they will NEVER give a minor a tattoo. There are laws in some states but most of the artists I know refuse to tattoo anybody that doesn't have proof they are over the age of 18 & then they make them wait 24 hrs to think it through. They do that with anybody who is getting their 1st tattoo no matter the age.Plus they sit & talk to them about the why they want the tattoo & make sure the person is serious about wanting it all their life. And tattoo's aren't cheap. I don't know an artist, (a real one) who will dirty a needle for under $100. I also know when my son was in high school tattoo's could not be seen. They had to stay covered. If parents are spending money so foolishly then they deserve the spoiled rotten think they are entitled children they raised. I am so glad I home school.
