WHEREAS, in order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eidl Fitr to the fore of national consciousness, it is necessary to declare Friday, September 10, 2010 as a regular holiday throughout the country.
--------------
I just ran across this little tidbit on Twitter:
govph: Proclamation No. 26, declaring September 10, 2010 a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eidl Fitr http://bit.ly/9bBvET
Anybody else have any red flags go up?? Like, a whole bunch of red flags??? :-O
Why would a 95% Catholic country do that? Did some Obama advisors land there?
They have nothing but trouble with muslims there. Outright warfare, terrorism. This has gone on for years.
40+ years ago and more the “Moros” - Filipino Moslems - would periodically go berserk and slaughter Catholic Malays until they themselves were killed. Still, there were not that many of them and IIRC they were based on Mindinao rather than Luzon.
This is indeed a major red flag. My guess would be Moslem oil money bought some Filipino politician(s).
Hmmm, I would think July 25 (Feast Day of St. James the Apostle and Moor-Slayer, patron of Spain) would be a holiday before Eid Al Fitr.
However, I see this custom was started in 2002.
Funny...In the two years that I have been here, I have yet to see a Muslim. There are probably more in Detroit then in all of the Philippines.
I am quite surprised to see that the new president even bothers to mention them. I guess it is just a PC thing to appease the few on Jolo Island.
Yes, the UN and NGO’s started their package deal lined with youth lectures, contraceptives etc. They also brought a wad of USAID dollars with them. They’ve been doing it for decades - it was the Philipines turn last year.
PS: Their goal in to deChristianize the globe especially the CC who is a major obstacle in their journey towards global marxism.
I’m caught more by the fact that Ramadan ends on Friday, September 10th?
Does this portent of something on 9/11 this year?
Of course, Friday in P.I. is actually Thursday in U.S., so that would bring a work day into play in our country.
if not, “never mind.”
If I went to the Philippines, I probably wouldn’t see any Muslims either, because my head would be separated from my body.
“If I went to the Philippines, I probably wouldnt see any Muslims either, because my head would be separated from my body.”
Hardly so...
As I said, there are some here and I am surprised that there are not more, considering our proximity to Malaysia and Indonesia, but the Spanish colonization instilled a very strong Catholic faith here.
Most every small town has a very old and very massive Catholic church that holds thousands.
The one in my small town will be 300 years old in February.
There are only a few remote areas of the Philippines where Muslims present any trouble. Keep in mind, this is a country of 7107 islands.
I've been here 8 years and see them everyday here in Cebu.
“I’ve been here 8 years and see them everyday here in Cebu.”
In the big city, I am sure you do, but I do not live in the city, and even when I go there on business, I have yet to notice one, but I frequent only 3 or 4 places when I have to go.
One can find Muslims everywhere in the world, but people who single out the Philippines as being dangerous because
of the Muzies, have their heads on backwards.
That's true there are plenty of things that can kill you in the PI but I really like it there anyway..
Sept 10th national Philippine holiday. If I’m not mistaken Ramadan is a moveable feast like Easter, all based on the jewish lunar calander observance of Passover.

We have the crazy Moros to thank for the 1911, designed by St. Browning when lesser caliber pistols were deemed ineffective.
Yes, the mudslimes are mostly down in Mindanao. My wife's family has lost three men fighting them in the past few decades, to add to three other relatives lost to the Communist People's Liberation Army encamped up in hills behind her mother's house in Bicol Province on the Luzon isthmus. Anyway, I could go on and on, but you get the picture.

Well, they did serve one very fine and worthwhile purpose then.
Is the Communist People’s Liberation Army the same as the Huks? They were a pestilence in the ‘60s.
My condolences to your wife for the loss of her kin. I see the PI has remained a violent place.
