I was a cop, and was appalled that police officers attempting to execute a search warrant were gunned down.

So do they usually use federal agents and US military to serve an arrest warrant for a pedophile?

US agents are "peace officers" the last time I looked. The initial search warrant didn't involve the military, only after weeks of a standoff were they involved.

Would it have been more palatable for you if the officers gunned down were local police?

I have a strong hunch that those who bad mouth cops doing their jobs also bad mouth the national guard at Kent State 40 years ago.
