A gun’s purpose is to protect its owner and his or her family. It is not tied to a house. That implies that a person is only entitled to defend themselves in a certain location. The home, while providing some marginal moral underpinning to self defense, is not the critical component to a meaningful self-defense doctrine.
The unintended consequence of NC’s stupid rule is that more families may stay home in harm’s way rather than risk running into opportunistic criminals during their evacuation.
Last time I checked there wasn’t an asterisk on the 2nd amendment that it only applied to specific locations.
