It reminds me of something as well. I lived in DC in the early '80s.
The KKK had applied for, and received a permit to march. It should be appreciated that President Reagan & I were the only two white guys that actually lived in DC.
The locals went nuts. They posted signs & leaflets everywhere about the date, time, and place those KKK clowns were going to be there.
The police correctly realized that the locals were laying in wait, and that violence was guaranteed. The chief of police contacted the head Grand Wizard(or whatever they are called). He advised of the certain violence that would occur, and asked if the KKK would consider calling off the march.
The KKK complied, and did not show up.
Apparantly that was not enough for the local populous, who spent the day advertised burning their own houses, businesses, and cars. They rioted in their own neighborhoods, and against their own neighbors.
The KKK just smiled.
got to love the jacka$$ party...
This reminds me of an old story...
Makes one wonder if any of these hecklers from 1974 are now in the Obama administration...or those who burned and rioted against their own neighbors?
“...and must, indeed, be proud to be associated with communists based on the election.”
This is an issue that I’m not sure enough conservatives really understand yet. Younger people, including the generation that became eligible to vote in the last decade or so, mostly do not have the same conception of Communism as the rest of the country. They weren’t even born when the Iron Curtain collapsed, and they certainly don’t get an accurate portrayal of Communism and the Cold War in school. By the time they get to college, the whitewashing of history has changed to glorification and indoctrination. Often it starts much sooner, with public schools in urban areas pushing Marxism on elementary school students.
In the past, even if liberals sympathized with the commies, they knew that they couldn’t win elections if they let themselves get too closely associated with them. Now, that association doesn’t carry any real stigma with a growing portion of the electorate. Unless we can change that, liberal politicians will be able to brazenly promote Marxism more and more.
