Professor Obama is looking to grade you on your car-buying preferences. Beginning with the 2012 model year, new vehicles will carry revised window stickers bearing ratings from "A+" to "D," with the highest marks reserved for choices the administration endorses and the lowest for those it frowns upon. This is just the latest example of the nanny state mentality that has taken hold inside the Beltway. The schoolmarms at the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Transportation jointly proposed the new labels Monday. The idea is to give government-subsidized electric vehicles -

It was a long time ago...back in the early 70’s...
someone had a big protest on our college campus and had
a symbolic funeral and burial of “the internal combustion engine”
I wonder if it is still there...

Liberals hate personal freedom (except for themselves) and cars are a important symbol. The ability to come and go must be curtailed by the liberals by putting everyone in tiny drab apartment complexes where they can be bussed or marched (better) to the communal work areas.

nothing new here
they’ve been after our cars since the early days of Nader

personal transportation really bothers those who want to control things

little by little they’re making it happen
every crazy law that adds cost to the cars makes them less affordable

and eventually they’ll get a super strict safety/emissions scrappage law that essentially outlaws anything older than a set age - like 10 years - Japan has this

I guess the elitists in power don’t trust us to read EPA estimated MPG and decide for ourselves. Of course, they no-doubt want to slant our purchasing decision. How much you want to bet that if you take two vehicles with identical MPG and operating costs, but one is from government motors and the other from say, Ford, that the GM one will get a higher rating?

Well it will be easy to tell what cars and trucks you need to buy.

First, anything with GM or Chrysler brands are out right there.

Then, anything big and with a low score. It will mean it has a good engine and power and weight (safety).

Drivers of combustion engine powered cars are the new smokers. Evil people out there killing “the children” with secondhand exhaust. Get ready for Barry’s “sin” taxes “for the children”. They are on the way!

Ensures future car purchases.

They will not be able to get away with this here.

I think I'll start a used car lot. Only gas guzzling 60’s muscle cars. Each one will come with the sticker rating “FU.”

They want millions of electric cars on the road with no way to charge them because we can't build power plants.

I wonder how many millions of our dollars those morons at DOT and EPA wasted coming up with this subjective grading scale. I would love to see the decision analysis that went into this brain dead scheme. Did anyone do any stakeholder analysis to see what the BUYERS of these cars wanted?

You are right, the only grade needed is FU Washington, which they will get in November.

The jackasses don’t realize that an “all electric” car basically runs on coal.
