Wow, you said it - remember last year, Glenn’s theme of We Surround Them?
He’s been (and continues to be) a forward thinker with amazing vision.

I believe the author was trying to explain that Beck is working toward and advocating cultural unity on a broader scale, and at a higher conceptual level.
Political and policy choices rest on a foundation of philosophy, culture, self-image, ideals, religion. Change the foundation, and the rest will flow from that.
What we have seen with the left’s highly successful application of Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, against individuals and single issues, is very important to note here:
•Isolate the target.
•Freeze it.
•Polarize it.
•And then destroy it.
The Tea Party movement has been successful against the Alinsky Method precisely there is no single leader or group of leaders to be “isolated”. The leftist media has tried desperately to declare such a “leader” so they could proceed with their process of destruction.
We see their attempts at this daily against Beck, Palin, Fox News, and similarly against any particular “single issue” that might be brought to the battlefield of ideas.
Whenever such an individual “leader apparent” or “issue apparent” is pushed to the forefront, the process immediately begins, coast to coast, and every communist in the country attacks in unison, using identical talking points and levels of viciousness, to Isolate, Freeze, Polarize, and Destroy. Any single issue, or any single leader or spokesperson, cannot survive, and we have seen this proven over and over.
If we wish to defeat this communist onslaught, and we must if the nation is to survive, we must be unified at a higher, conceptual level. We cannot be totally dependent on any one particular leader, and we cannot venture onto the field of battle with our “single issue” weapon.”
Yes, the hard Left, including MSM, fears Beck and Palin, so pull out all the stops in mocking Beck and Palin. The probelm is that the Left is so far off the mark that more and more see the Left as pitiful and desperate,
When we see anyone mocked in the main stream media, we can be sure that the person is a person worth listening to. Sad that the American people have become Soviets: Read Pravda (Russian for “Truth”) and conclude that the opporsite of what is written in the truth).

I thank God for Glenn Beck, and I thank Glenn Beck for having the courage to put himself out there and for encouraging others to stand up. May God forever bless Glenn Beck.

Although both these were before the 70’s, two come to mind - Barry Goldwater and Joe McCarthy. I think they’d be treated very different today, in fact both would perhaps be just as relevant today as then.

I think I meant ‘religous rhetoric’ and got too smart by a third. Before I continue, I’m an atheist. With that said, religion seems to play so well in America. Political people my nature stir up the masses and then protect themselves with the ‘blanket of religion’. Beck did that pretty well. On a completely unrelated topic, Islam is especially good at this, too. That whole movment is political at its core but, protects itself with the self righteous blanket of religion.
I still say Beck’s movement can’t be labeled, though. Sure, he’s championing all the conservative causes (self reliance, balanced budget, self control, patriotism, the constitution) but, he made only vague reference to this over the weekend. Politicians who overtly say this stuff are labeled uncaring, unflinching, racist, selfish, rich, white, and simple (You’ve heard the drill, I’m sure). By only vaguely referencing these points and disallowing political signs, Beck was difficult to attack.....as Al Sharpton proved by looking so foolish in the counter rally. The left has been preparing the country for a ‘violent right wing’ movement for years, now. To be honest, I think the secretly hope for it so they can relive the 50’s and 60’s. But, seriously, does that even seem remotely likely? Enough already!
By the way, I’m sick of being called a racist everytime I oppose something from the left. If for no other reason, I’m glad there’s now a movement that seems to know how to deal with that charge. Us folks on the right are always accused of being dunderheads but, the left is always the side clinging to emotional charged arguments when the facts betray their beliefs. If nothing else, Beck has raised the level of debate in this country. That’s a good thing no matter which side you are on.
I think the MSM really found out their power when they destroyed McCarthy. That seems to be when the anti-american outlook in the Media gained ascendancy. I think Barry Goldwater was one of the first post McCarthy victims of the MSM.

I think that is a reasonable question to ask, as Beck is going where no conservative talk show host has gone before, not even Rush.
