We have one of those signs near where we live. They spent over $400,000 putting in a traffic circle/turnabout in a rural area when a traffic light would have served the purpose.

Those roundabouts are the latest craze in the ‘National Planners” who think that one size or one solution fits all.

Here in N Nevada, there have been 3 of them installed in the last few years. One in Fernley—one in Carson City near the hard core prison- one in Minden next to the high school.

The trucks here in Nevada can run ‘triples, which is a truck + a trailer + a trailer. Hay jaulers- UPS-Fed Ex re the most common. These are quite long. The truck drivers have complained from the beginning about how difficult it is to travel thru these roundabouts. They are just too long a vehicle set up for the size of the roundabout.
They pleaded to not have the one in Fernley built—the ‘NDOT engineers” told them to take another route. Here in rural Northern Nevada, there is not a choice of ‘another route’.

I would bet that left side tires are now being replaced more frequently on these truck units than ever before, as they ride up over the rounded ‘curb’, even at very slow speeds.

I haul a 4 horse trailer & I hate the damn things. They are very intimidating, with the speed of the other vehicles entering at 3 other points, & trying to not toss the horses around inside the trailer. Once I get into the roundabout, I set the speed I want to not jostle the horses. Entering is a bitch.
