Tuesday night, my father won the Arizona Republican primary for U.S. Senate. Like so many times before, I stood behind him on stage proud and hopeful for the future—for both the state of Arizona and our country.
It is no secret this seemed to have been the summer of anti-incumbency rhetoric in numerous Republican primaries. This is probably most evident in the Charlie Crist/Marco Rubio race in Florida, where Gov. Crist left the Republican Party to run as an independent against the much more conservative Rubio.
It is a complicated time in politics, especially Arizona politics. I recently moved back to Arizona, and I got to see it firsthand every night as commercial after commercial (not just in my father’s race) penned each candidate in an unflattering light. There was the mudslinging—a particular ad where in red letters the word “Liar” ran over and over again over my father’s face.

Had your dad been a better campaigner and senator he may be in the oval office today. Not everyone believes Senator McCain is good for politics these days. We need a change. Too bad it took 20 million to push him over the line. That seat in Arizona should not be his for life. Your father is partly responsible for the immigration mess today. Thank him for me.

Ms. McCain is nowhere to be found in Arizona and her family is nowhere to be found around here. Seems they speak to a national crowd but not a local one.

As I – you know -- listened to her on – like -- Larry “Cadaver” King, I kept thinking about something about which Boortz frequently reminds -- you know -- his male audience: “At some point, you’ll have to try to have a conversation with her.” I also kept thinking – you know -- that she HAS to be from – like – California or somewhere until I remembered that – you know -- Arizona also has – like –valleys and stuff and – you know – really big holes in the ground.
