Interestingly, if you watch the video or read the story, you fail to find any "controversy", other than perhaps invented by the reporter, and the Dem guy who SPECULATES "hatred" might be involved, but he has no evidence of that, and they present no reports of actual complaints. If the story gets legs, they will no doubt play the race card next.
I hate to disappoint you, but I found this report to be refreshingly balanced.
Though, I live in Oregon...;o)
Count yourself among the blessed.
Regards
The ‘Rat operative who paints the billboard as an example of hatred is certainly not refreshingly balanced. Did the station run any stories during the Bush Administration pondering if questions about Bush’s performance in office was embarassing was hatred? Hell, the ‘Rats fabricated all sorts of lies about Bush and the media helped push them to this day — e.g., stealing the 2000 election, not finding WMD or WMD programs in Iraq.
Did you watch the video?
“The Rat operative who paints the billboard as an example of hatred is certainly not refreshingly balanced.”
I never said that particular statement was balanced.
And...what did you expect from the current crop of ‘rat operatives?
To sum things up...I didn’t make any kind of statement that supports what was said by one local ‘rat operative...only that the news report was refreshingly balanced.
The only person who cited possible "hate" was the local Democrat party county chairman. Get this, though. Not a joke. It's actually called, "the Greene County Democratic Central Committee." (One wonders if it used to be called the "Comintern".)
Yes, I did watch the video. The fact that the station aired the story is what is unbalanced. Did they air similar stories during the Bush years questioning the hatred behind motivating his detractors? Please provide a link to a video from that station doing so, and I’ll change my opinion. It’s telling that bias is now regarded as balance in Oregon.
I think it is a great billboard.
How many on FR are old enough to remember the “IMPEACH EARL WARREN” billboards that dotted the south?
I’m sorry...but’s it’s more telling about you that you consider a station reporting both sides of the story as “biased”. If they reported only the side with which you agree, that would be considered biased...and propaganda. Lordy! We see already see enough of that!
If you want to see their reporting about Bush, do your own research. Don’t be so lazy as to ask me to do it for you.
As far as living in Oregon is concerned...I’m from...born and raised...in Mississippi...hence my nic.
Right away, even in that area, the Democrat says there is probably “hatred” involved in the billboard.
I am so darn sick of being called a “hater” because I have different political views than the Democrats.
I think the Democrats have overplayed the race card this time, I really do. They are so used to using race to beat down opposing viewpoints, and with Obama in, they have been shutting down every other conversation with name calling and race baiting. And I think people are tired of it.
One of the reasons I think the Dems are getting so mad is people are not letting themselves be corralled by the race argument so much anymore. The Dems start calling people racist, and finally people are handing it back to them as good as they’re getting.
Obama has caused more damage to the Dems than Bush ever has.
By the way, the signs doing damage to Obama IMHO are not the billboards. It’s those 10K signs all along the highways there touting “stimulus project” in the area. I saw a few on my last Ozark trip and my blood boiled.
The Thought Police are alive and well. It isn't Obamaville, it's Orwellville.
My. What a ringing endorsement.
Sorry, I am unable to prove a negative. It’s too bad you are so accustomed to media bias that you can’t see it when it’s in front of you, but that’s what decades of acculturalization does to people.
those 'floodgates' only flow ONE WAY!
Oh, stop it. You didn’t see my smiley at the end of my post? Too bad for you, then.
I haven’t watched the local news, or read the local paper, in over eight years.
As far as media bias is concerned, I want to see both sides of the story...not only one side...and I want to see the truth contrasted with the lie. To me, that makes for a really free press.
It’s too bad for you that we don’t have an MSNBC for conservatives. However, if we did, you would probably complain about them, too. You seem to love to argue for argument’s sake.
Voted for the Wee Wee ... hell NO!
Embarrassed by the Wee Wee ... impossible not to be if you have an
I.Q. equal to or greater than a tree.
thats a great billboard
I think it is humorous that the TV station called the head of the democrat party in Greene County, not Christian County where the sign is located.
Christian County has only elected 2 democrats to county office in about 80 years. During that period of time one of the democrats was reelected to a second term, then retired. The other democrat elected was one term and out.
The primary election on August 3 saw as many as 9 Republican candidates on the ballot and not a single democrat running for one county office.
Almost everyone runs for office as a Republican. The term RINO has a whole different meaning in Christian County, Missouri.
You are correct in that the station gave time to both sides of the story, but their choice to run the story in the first place is where the bias lies, as well as the slant they gave it by airing some 'Rat claiming hatred when he offered no evidence of any hatred, which is what was stated early on in this thread. Watch the video again -- the faction in favor of the billboard's message is put on the defensive. Realistically, the dolt who was claiming hate as a motivation for the billboard without evidence is who should have been put on the defensive in a fair coverage of the matter, if it even warrants coverage.
There is nothing newsworthy in claiming that people who don't support Obama are not supporting him because they are hateful racists. How many times have we heard that worn out story, yet there is never evidence of hatred offered. There's no shortage of evidence of poor performance that more than justifies opposing the guy, but the focus of these biased scripted stories is always supposed right-wing hatred.
The real story is the scripted nature of the Left's "paint 'em with hate" campaign. I didn't hear the 'Rat alleging right-wing hatred once questioned about that unsupported allegation. Painting those who disagree with you as haters and racists is a form of elitism, and elitism is anti-American: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal. I shall assume you are able to discern this.
The news story in question is something like a story about dixiechick2000 halting the beatings of her husband. The station gives air time to a friend of yours who defensively states what a nice person you are, and air time to an opponent of yours who ponders the hatred behind the beatings you gave your spouse, without any evidence that you had indeed beat your spouse. Then the station concludes by saying, "We attempted to reach dixiechick2000, but she was unavailable for comment." Yeah, we heard both sides of the story (why it would be a story in the first place is a good question), but the choice of the story and the way in which both sides were presented gives a distinct bias that would lead a lot of viewers who don't know you to regard you as a dirt bag. Make sense?
Good evening.
No, this is good. Its free publicity, it gets the message out, the meme going, that Obama is a failure.
