Agree with him or not, Huckabee is an authentic leader

“I'm a conservative, but I'm not mad at everybody over it.”

Mike Huckabee

I'm writing this to say just one thing: I like Mike.

That would be Michael Dale Huckabee, former Baptist preacher, former governor of Arkansas, former GOP presidential candidate, current Fox News personality, the guy quoted above being flagrantly reasonable during an interview on “The Daily Show.” I like Mike.

The proximate reason I say that is his recent refusal to support a knuckleheaded idea being touted by many of his conservative brethren: altering the 14th Amendment to curtail illegal immigration.

But I could have said it a few months ago when he sided with Arizona Hispanics who feared that state's new immigration law could be used to profile them. I could have said it two years ago when he dissected the Jeremiah Wright controversy with a sense of nuance and compassion seldom found among conservatives when they speak of race.

“We've got to cut some slack,” he said, “to people who grew up being called names, being told you have to sit in the balcony when you go to the movie, you have to go to the back door to go into the restaurant, you can't sit out there with everyone else. ... And you know what? Sometimes peopledo have a chip on their shoulder and resentment, and you have to just say, ‘I probably would, too. In fact, I may have hadmore of a chip on my shoulder, had it been me.'” I like Mike.

And, yes, I know what some of you are thinking: I like Mike because he agrees with me.

Yes, we have points of concurrence. But on any number of issues — reproductive rights, guns, same-sex marriage,

I "like" Huckabee too

Yeah, I'm sure the relatives of the deceased cops that were gunned down in your home state by the killers Huckabee released enjoy his company too.

I think his present niche is just fine.

Agree with your points.

Translation:

We’re desperate for SOMEONE to suck votes away from Sarah Palin, if she decides to run. Here’s an agreeable (beatable) fellow for you gullible conservatives to vote for.

Up Huck!

Huckabee would be perfect to lead a once a week entertainment show on a cable network.

I would never follow him, ergo he is not a leader for me.

Why is it bad to send people to Mexico?

It is not like sending them to the third level of hell.

Being shipped back to Mexico builds character.

Bratch, you don’t want to mention the name, Sarah Palin, on one of Pissant’s posts. The FReep will go all WWF on you.

He does seem like he would fit in quite well on late night informercials selling cleaning products.

You know who’s opinion I’d like?

I’d like the opinion of the families of the victims of the murderers and rapists Huckabee gave clemency to (over the protestations of the parole board, in many cases). Do you think they like him?

Specifically, I wonder if the families of the four police officers brutally slaughtered by Maurice Clemmons like him? Clemmons was a convicted rapist Huckabee gave clemency to. He mowed down four police officers as they were having coffee one morning.

Or Ashley Stevens, a 17 year old high school student who was brutally raped. She was understandably upset when her rapist was freed by Huckabee. His name was Wayne Dummond. He was set free by Huckabee and went out to rape two more women even though Stevens and other victims publicly identified themselves and pleaded for Huckabee not to campaign for Dummond’s releases. He ignored them.

We could ask those next two victims, but they won’t be answering.

Wayne Dummond didn’t leave any victims that time. He murdered those women. I wonder what their families think of good old Huck?

Frankly, those and the other victims of Huckabee’s clemency festival* are the only opinions I care about.

*Good Old Huck granted 1,033 clemencies during his 10 years in office. That number is more than twice the total of the previous three governors over their 17 years.

I like Huck, in a hick way. He’s not an economic or political conservative. He’s somewhat social conservative. A bit.

I don’t think of him as a conservative.

I think of him more as a slack jawed hick, like Gomer Pyle.

That is about all ANYONE ever need to read about “huck” to relegate him to the dustbin of political history. This son of a witch (with a b) has their blood on his hands. Forever. He will answer for it one day...

Seems like a genuinely nice guy. He might be a leader, but then so was Hitler, Stalin, and Castro. The direction the leader is going is more important than the man, himself.

His name is Mike Huckabee.

Your name is “pissant”.

Notice the difference?

The Huck seems like a nice guy, I wouldn’t mind having him as a sunday school teacher, but I wouldn’t want him running the local solid waste department much less the US government.
