J.D. Hayworth absent from GOP unity event

PHOENIX—An ebullient John McCain celebrated his resounding GOP Senate primary win with Gov. Jan Brewer, Sen. Jon Kyl and the state’s Republican congressional delegation at a unity fundraiser Friday night.

Conspicuously absent: former Rep. J.D. Hayworth, whom McCain soundly defeated Tuesday following a bitter and acrimonious campaign.

Organizers said he received an invitation to the event, just as others losing candidates did, but Hayworth claims the opposite.

“I never received an invitation – nothing ever crossed my desk,” the former six-term congressman told POLITICO Saturday.

You need to change your last “if” to when. And my guess is one day after the general election.

I don’t think that McCain is part of the Tea Party. Even the consideration of it is absurd. I think it was a shot across the bow remark from Palin.

Worship at Sarah's shrine

Yeah, we're worshipping her even though we complained when she supported McCain and even Fiorina in CA.

JD lost in 2006 because McCain and Bush made sure he lost because of his strong position on illegal immigration.

That poodle ain't hunting. The base was fed up with both McCain & Bush in 2006 over illegal immigration. JD should have won his district by the same or greater than margin that he lost to McCain.

Take your pick, Palin supporters

She's still more conservative than the other potential GOP presidential candidates.

Nobody said she was pure as the driven snow, speaking in political terms of course :-)

Yet you support her? That's worshipping at her shrine. When you don't hold a politican accountable for the things they do, you are enabling them.

I had to laugh yesterday when she tried to bring McCain into the conversation at the rally yesterday and was met with a pathetic patter of applause. She still hasn't figured it out.

I'm not going to go around posting on various Sarah threads, I don't have to, I just won't support anyone who supports McCain.

Look, the guy lost his Congressional seat in 2006, a Republican-leaning district. What does that tell you?

In 2006 they changed the district lines, demographics changed. It was still a close one.

You are right, but don’t try to tell these guys, they’re defending Palin, so they will twist anything to make it OK for her. First they claim she’s the most important thing in all the various races......except for the Arizona race and then suddenly, her endorsement doesn’t matter. LOL

I support Palin for President, but that doesn’t mean I mindlessly support her picks for officeholders. I abhor, but understand why, that she had to support McCain. We needed a better and stronger challenger than Hayworth (someone like John Shadegg, who was retiring anyway).

Since when did supporting a conservative equate being a mind-numbed zombie? I support Sarah because she's conservative and is the only Republican fighting the Left and Obama. If Pawlenty or other Republicans did the same, I'd support them too.

When you don't hold a politican accountable for the things they do, you are enabling them.

Hold her accountable for what? Letting folks know ahead of time she was going to endorse and campaign for McCain long before JD was born?

I had to laugh yesterday when she tried to bring McCain into the conversation at the rally yesterday and was met with a pathetic patter of applause. She still hasn't figured it out.

It wasn't a political rally. It was a solemn tribute to honor our nation's founding, faith, and soldiers. Despite your white-hot hatred of McCain, he is still a military veteran and deserved to be mentioned.

I'm not going to go around posting on various Sarah threads, I don't have to, I just won't support anyone who supports McCain.

You knew JD would have probably lost against the Rat in the general election. He is not collected and poised like Joe Miller is. The guy is obviously missing some hardware. Pure political courtesy that Palin endorsed McCain, and the bonus is that he'll help pass some of her initiatives if she becomes President.

You guys were the ones who said she was on a losing streak, and had lost her touch. So now one of her picks wins and you're bitching about it. No, her endorsement DIDN'T MATTER in the AZ race because it was a forgone conclusion that she was going to endorse him anyway and her supporters DISAGREED with her.

Ah, I see, your "leader" can endorse, campaign for, and fund raise for someone you say you disapprove of, yet you support her. OK, now we know about your princlples, anything for convenience, you'll bend over for anything as long as you can win.

So it was a solemn tribute huh? LOL, and Sarah was right and all those hundreds of thousands of mean ignorant people just didn't realize how much McCain deserved to be mentioned. LOL!

I didn't say any of that crap. I said right from the start that she should never have endorsed McCain and if he won I would not forgive her for it. I never mentioned her again other then to repeat that she should have never supported him. Pay attention EEE, don't accuse me of stuff I have not done.

I lost respect for her because she has flawed judgement, she chose loyalty to McCain over loyealty to the people of Arizona. THAT is what I based my decision on. Yes, I like JD, but if he lost he lost, that has nothing to do with Palins poor judgement.

Nope. I understood the McCain endorsement. You do realize she was his VP choice, right? She actually ran alongside him, OOGEDY-BOOGEDY! You turned off the TV when she gave her acceptance speech and said she was a RINO? What was she supposed to do, tell McCain to pound sand?

Please point out where Sarah has endorsed other McCain toadies like Mark Kirk or Castle in DE. Had she endorsed those two I would have dropped her like a hot potato. I also understood the Fiorina endorsement as it was imperative to knock out the real RINO from a 3-person race. Other than those two, all of her picks were solid conservatives.

OK, now we know about your princlples, anything for convenience, you'll bend over for anything as long as you can win.

Buddy, I have NEVER been a McCain fan, but Sarah would have caught political Hell for not endorsing him. She would have been even more marginalized from the RNC establishment than she is right now, and if she wants to run for POTUS she's going to need some beltway help. So she took an issue away from the media by endorsing McCain early.

Sarah was right and all those hundreds of thousands of mean ignorant people just didn't realize how much McCain deserved to be mentioned. LOL!

Yeah, very funny. Of course you probably ignored the rest of her speech and focused on this.

I didn't say any of that crap.

I didn't say you did. I was speaking generally how her critics laughed and said she was on a losing streak but when McCain wins they're all hating on it. I'm pointing out the irony of it.

I said right from the start that she should never have endorsed McCain and if he won I would not forgive her for it.

So don't vote for McCain - vote for the Rat or stay home. McCain will probably lose the general anyway he doesn't have the money and Tea Party voters won't support him. Why does Sarah matter?

I lost respect for her because she has flawed judgement, she chose loyalty to McCain over loyealty to the people of Arizona.

No, AZ voters chose McCain over the loyalty of their state. So when Obamamnesty rears its ugly head it'll be the people of AZ fault.

He lost fair and square, and he needs to honor his pledge of supporting McCain in the general election to secure as many Republicans seats as possible.

Do not agree with you on the "fair and square". This was a "Celebration Party", where was Deaken (sp)? If JD said that he would support McCain in the General Election he will. He is a man for the Country, a rare thing these days.

How about Carley? Bet you really like her. You do know that she campaigned with McCain, don't you? Oh, but maybe that's just another little "loyalty" thing. Tell me, when is she supposed to show loyalty to the conservatives?

Oh, McCain will win, all the dems will support him that's a sure thing. No, I'm not staying home, I vote down ticket, but I will leave the senate box blank, or write in JD not sure which.

You don't have to worry about McCain's money, the amnesty crowd will fill them up in no time.

bs.... When Sarah had her lovefest with McCain, JD was down less than 10 points. It was all the momentum that McLame needed.

The coronation of Princess Sarah is sickening, FR is better than that.
