PA negotiator slams Shas spiritual leader for "insulting comments" calling Abbas "an evil hater of Israel"; MK Tibi claims Rabbi became a spreader of hate "a long time ago."

Palestinian Authority officials claimed on Sunday that Shas spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef called for the "genocide of the Palestinian people" when he made comments about Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian people in his weekly sermon.

Palestinian Authority Chief Negotiator Saeb Erekat said that Rabbi Ovadia's comments are "an absolute insult to our efforts to progress the peace process."

Rabbi Ovadia called Abbas "an evil hater of Israel" in his weekly sermon and reportedly said that God should send a plague to Abbas and the Palestinians, and they should be finished.

After mentioning the traditional New Year's wish of "may those who hate us be finished," Yosef reportedly said that God should send a plague to Abbas and the Palestinians, and they should be finished.

So, if God does send a plague to destroy the "evil hater of Israel" will they accuse God of the same?

Chacham Ovadia Yosef, head of the Shas party’s Moetzet Chachmei Hatorah, denounced upcoming peace talks with the Palestinians, which are set to start September 2 in Washington, and called for Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to “perish from this world.”

“Abu Mazen and all these evil people should perish from this world,” Chacham Ovadia was quoted as saying during his weekly drasha on Motzoei Shabbos at the bais medrash near his home in Yerushalayim. “Hakadosh Boruch Hu should strike them with a plague, them and these Palestinians.”

Chacham Ovadiah also called the Palestinians “evil, bitter enemies of Israel” during his drasha.

Meanwhile, Shas Interior Minister Eli Yishai earlier this week also remarked on the forthcoming peace talks with the Palestinians, saying that Shas would oppose extending the West Bank settlement building freeze due to expire in late September.

Yishai has suggested that Israel would continue construction in the main settlement blocs likely to remain part of Israel in the framework of a peace deal, but freeze construction in outposts or more remote settlements.

Assuming the good Rabbi put this wish in the form of a Hebrew prayer...let us say “Amen”.

The obvious problem with Erefat, oops, Erekat's objection is, the PA hasn't been involved in any peace process or even negotiations, ever. Should we figure that the IDF will move against the Hizzies / Syria / Hamas / Iran *before* the US' direct negotiation start date? Should we figure that Zero and company *knew in advance* about Israel's plans, and set the date for the negotiations accordingly, in an attempt to smear Israel and/or get off the hook regarding the dead-end plans to bring about a negotiated peace? Thanks Nachum.

“Chacham Ovadiah also called the Palestinians “evil, bitter enemies of Israel”...”

Well, sounds like an accurate description to me.

Of course back in the old days when the western civilization still had the guts to deal with barbarians they way they need to be dealt with, there would be no need for a plague to strike them.

Now, with the lefty-libs running the show and tolerance of evil having been labeled a virtue by the gutless majority, divine intervention is about the only thing left one can hope for to see evil dealt with...
