How many epidemiological studies will it take before we stop wasting money on junk science? The fact that we ban DDT, dioxins, chlorofluorocarbons, etc., based solely on anecdotal and/or highly-partisan "evidence," then ship money all over is a crime in and of itself. Considering that the workers who formulated the dioxin products (and spent most of their workdays covered in the stuff at a much higher concentration than anyone later down the line) have a lower cancer and general mortality rate than the general population, should we really be paying for the Vietnamese to "clean up"? Sorry, I don't buy it...

Earlier this week I went to Michael’s and bought some metallic tissue paper. It is a very nice product and packaged in a very nice self sealing plastic beg/wrapper.

When I looked closely at the wrapper I was amazed to see the country of origin is Vietnam

You make it sound like we haven't spent billions (probably trillions) to rebuild Japan, Europe, South Korea, the Philippines and on and on.

The Philippines was a part of the USA and the Republic of Korea and half of Europe were our allies. We are not the behemoth we were in 1945 and can't afford to rebuild anywhere, whether it be Iraq, Afghanistan or Vietnam. I support helping Israel because that gives us a mostly pro-American, democratic, nuclear-armed ally in the vital Middle East region.
