Sure, I'll be glad to become a Libertarian if that's what it takes to keep my government job

What we need in America...is a political party called “The Loser Party”. We need a chairman, about a dozen strategy guys (mostly losers), and a couple million in cash to help guys who lose their primary episodes but want to continue on.

Under the Loser Party....anything would be possible. We’d even start a new trend....losing just means round two.

I’m hoping that all this third-party, write-in talk is just desperate staffers who are paranoid at losing their own meal ticket. If Murkowski does try to jump to the Libertarian ticket, it would be undeniable proof that she is nothing but a political whore of the worst sort.

I think its about time, the party thought about instituting legal agreements on people running for their primaries along the lines of “if you are in an primary for the republican party ticket, if you are not selected, you cannot challenge the winner of that primary for that election seat under any other means, no 3rd run, no write in, no switching party.

Just like some do when they sign contracts upon leaving a company so they cant work for opposition for a period of time.

They need to be able to enforce the will of the party voters.

There needs to be state laws across the country. If you join a primary, that’s it!

No backing out after polls show you getting crushed (like Crist). And no joining another party after losing (like Murkowski).

What a joke.

I’ve really not paid much attention to this race. But that picture of Murkowski and all of those reporters just gave me a chill down the back. Look at those eyes of hers... Reminded me instantly of the Sith Emperor in the Star Wars movies. Really creepy.

She will never get a job at Hooters thats fer sure, maybe hanging sheetrock or a dog washer. Lots of dog wash shops being built in Alaska...and don’t ask me why its suddenly so popular.

Murkowski looks shell-shocked, I love it! If she runs on a third party platform she will end up getting beat. The regular 2 party rules don’t count in Alaska, and the voters are ornery to begin with up there. She was not that popular to begin with, hence her getting beat in the primary. If you were to give Miller another couple of weeks he would have beat her by 5 percent.

Here is why I think she will have a problem getting the Libertarian line: the Libertarians.

While it is true, that Alaska's Libertarian Party is more viable than the rest of the country's, it is still very much a third party (arguably 4th, with the Alaska Independent Party having a stronger history.) The people who form it, by definition, I looking for alternatives to Republicans and Democrats.

If Lisa Murkowski was such a great libertarian, why did the Libertarians put up Haase?! Normally, third parties skip races (or co-endorse when possible) when the candidate is ideal. We all now the reason. Murkowski is all left-libertarian on baby-killing, but she is all old time pol when it comes to pork. Small government is something ALL libertarians can unite on. Picking Murkowski would make as much sense as picking Dan Rostenkowski or Al D'Amato, effective people in their time, but NOT libertarian.

Haase and the head of the party might cave on this, because they see headlines, stars, and maybe paychecks. They will have sold out for access. To folks like me, the Libertarian Party is no more than an escape valve when I cannot vote for the Republican (e.g. Mark Kirk in Illinois). For the people who are actually members, a Murkowski would make the reason for the existence of the party into a joke. It would show that it is a sham party that can be used by powerful people when needed. If they allow her to knock Haase off of the ticket, they will get money, but lose 1/3 to 1/2 of their membership. Libertarians have already marginalized themselves over principle. There is no need for them to put up with this nonsense.

LOL! Zakeet!

'Scott Kohlass, the state chair of the Libertarian Party, claims "there's a chance" the party could replace Mr. Haase with the GOP Senator.'

The national Libertarians should call Kohlass today and ask him to resign. He is a disgrace.

“We are going to take a look at them and see whether the option is there or not, but it’s a decision she (Murkowski) has to make,” a source close to the Murkowski campaign said. The senator herself calls such talk “premature.”

These stories make for good hype among the supporters of the candidates but in the end I believe that Murkowski will not push any 3rd party run once the current election is finalized with the counting of the absentees and any recounts that could or should occur. I don’t know what AK law calls far in mandating recounts or if they even do. Murkowski’s chances of success are nil if the vote tallies continue to hold as they did on election day.
