A former nuclear inspector for the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is warning that Iran already has the capacity to produce a nuclear bomb.

Olli Heinonen revealed the information in an interview with the French Le Monde magazine on Thursday.

According to Reuters, quoting the interview, Heinonen was an expert on Iran’s nuclear program during his tenure as the deputy director-general of the IAEA, heading the agency’s nuclear safeguards arm.

And when they do, Israel will be the first to know because they’ll skip testing and move directly to production and deployment.

It’s like a slow motion train wreck where millions die at the end.

"{quote}In unusual public remarks about Iran's disputed nuclear programme Olli Heinonen, the former chief of U.N. nuclear inspections worldwide, told Le Monde newspaper that Iran's uranium reserve still represented a "threat."

Heinonen said the Islamic Republic now possessed three tonnes of low-enriched uranium, material which can be used to fuel nuclear power plants, or form the core of a bomb if refined much further.

"In theory, it is enough to make one or two nuclear arms. But to reach the final step, when one only has just enough material for two weapons, does not make sense," Heinonen said in the interview carried out just before he left office.

In comments translated from English to French, he suggested this was not sufficient to constitute a serious bargaining chip in any negotiations with the United States, the Islamic Republic's old adversary.

"But this constitutes a ... threat," he said, apparently referring to Iran's LEU stockpile. MORE

I don't bet — don't even buy lottery tickets — won't respond to Publisher's Clearing House, but HERE are somethings I'd bet the farm on:

1. Russia is lying — they've been helping them all along as have the North Koreans — and, no, it isn't the watered down materials — it's whatever the Iranians can afford to buy which is substantial. Russia is broke and they need cash and hate the West.

2. Iraq is going to come apart like a $3 watch as all the bad guys went undercover and joined the military the police and the government.

3. Afghanistan is absolutely the same. Taliban have infiltrated the Afghan army and there's WAY too much money to be made harvesting drugs to EVER stop.

4. No one in Europe is going to do anything whatsoever to stop this mess from going forward, they're broke, enamored with the European Union and socialism and are tired and demoralized in every aspect of their psyche. They've decided they can put up with anything as long as it doesn't interfere with their government checks.

5. I have little or no faith that America is any better off. If what's left of a rational population manages to rouse itself from its ennui and get a clue, we MAY manage to hold it off for a while longer, but it is inevitable — too much ignorance out there and it's gone to seed.

6. The governments all over the world are out of control, do not represent their constituents and have absolutely no regard for the welfare of those they are elected to serve, but are only interested in expanding into every nation, every bank account, every thought, word and deed. 7. There is no Santa Claus, free lunch or man-made utopia. Can't be, won't ever be, not possible. Every time mankind starts to think it can do a better job than the Almighty and gets involved, you can pretty much assume it's going to be a colossal failure.
