Ken Mehlman, who was President George W. Bush's campaign manager in 2004, has come out as gay - and wants to be an advocate for gay marriage.
Mehlman, also a former Republican National Committee chairman, told the Atlantic magazine "It's taken me 43 years to get comfortable with this part of my life."
He said friends, family and colleagues "have been wonderfully supportive."
When rumors of Mehlman's sexual orientation circulated years ago, he told several reporters that they were false.
Mehlman and his aides went to considerable lengths to conceal his sexual identity, arranging "dates" with women and photos of him dancing in heterosexual situations.
While he was a top GOP operative, the Republican Party was actively pushing anti-gay marriage initiatives. Mehlman acknowledged that if not for his secret, he might have been a voice for a more conciliatory approach to gays, according to the interview on the Atlantic's website.
"It's a legitimate question and one I understand," Mehlman said. Now, he said, he will openly back gay marriage as consistent with such GOP principles as "individual freedom."
and what weekly and person is that?
“It seems the queers have infiltrated the Republican establishment to the highest levels.”
Joe Farah has been writing about it all last week at WND. He is one of the few to call these freaks out about their agenda. It’s the same thing every time - the camel’s nose under the tent. They weasel their way in and poof, next thing you know they are pushing for homosexual ‘marriage’ and open homosexuality mandated in the armed forces. Sick people, but you have to give them credit for their devious ways of working their bizarre sexual agenda into the highest political quarters. Evil people seem to always end up on top in the political world.
He was probably a democrat mole.
ugggghhh, where's my eyewash...
More evidence of the moral ROT at the very heart of the Parties — both Democrat AND Republican — in our corrupt government system. If this nation is to survive, this kind of moral and ethical filth will have to be purged from leadership, and honesty and integrity as well as dedication to the Founders original intent for the Constitution will have to be restored. Otherwise, our nation will never survive intact.
That’s just wrong.
So far, my life has been fine without giving even a one second thought to him. He will be delegated to the trash bin of people that I couldn't care less about!!
Uhhhh, no Mr. Mehlman, it is NOT consistent with Republican Principles. In fact it lack principle completely.
THIS is exactly why LCR, ans GOProud should not be pandered to. While they are free to support any party they choose, like everyone else in America, they are not welcome to drag the whole party down to the sewer with them. If they do, the entire country will lose.
Yeah, probably. But you would have looked anyway.
“;^)
Wouldn’t that be wonderful. Even better would be to purge these people with the worst judgment possible in their own lives, from govt., and keep them from using that poor judgment to rule OUR lives. I do not trust someone with poor judgment to make decisions on laws that effect the rest of us.
Wasn't he gay BEFORE years of denial?
Wasn’t this fairly obvious? This guy pegged the needle on my gaydar.
This is the case with many, many men with unwanted homosexual attractions. Which is why reparative therapy is so very crucial.
Most conservative men I knew are handsome or at least presentable. Looks like he could be coming out as a left winger to me.
I give up. You win. No wonder old Ken turned queer on us if he ever saw that wimming.
You crack me up! lol
LOL. Were you responsible for any of the deleted posts I'm too late to read...lol.
