I'm almost afraid to ask if I should go ahead and apply for my Social Security in October?

The way things were going, I thought I'd get it earlier rather than later...and hopefully get a few checks before it ran out of money.

Go for it. I got mine at 62 and have never looked back.

And do it now. You can do it all online but it takes SSA some time to get it set up. If your birthday is in Oct, you should get your first check in Dec. Auto deposit, natch.
