Why is this so hard for the Nation to understand?

People don't like leftist policies. They talk about Republicans and how Bush is to blame but do they realize that Republicans were voted out in 2006 because many of them supported the same big-government crap that the Dems did? Do they realize that Bush won both of his elections only by razor-thin margins?

These people just don't get it.

You can just sense that Sheer WANTS to break into an anti-Obama rant, but his audience won’t have it. :)

My impression, too.

WELL HOLY $H!T! Does “The Nation” pay this guy??? The author has not a single clue! Maybe if he did some research into the Community Reinvestment Act and its contribition to this unmitigated train wreck but, nooooo. The ONLY thing he got right is calling for giving the boot to Turbo Tax Tim and Never-held-a-Real-Job Summers. SHEESH!

But it is the Nation. According to far left, of which The Nation is the standardbearer, nothing the Dems have done in the last fifty years, excepting the Vietnam War, has ever caused any problems. The only way they’ve failed according to these twerps is they haven’t poured enough money down enough liberal ratholes.

Robert Scheer (the correct spelling of the author's name) is an acknowledged Communist.

Indeed, he originally styled himself as a Stalinist. Subsequently, he decided that Kim Il-sung represented the Communist ideal (that would be Kim Jong-il's father, the founder of North Korea).

Still, he's considered a leading intellectual light and the left takes him seriously -- which says more about them than it does about him.

” It’s the Democrats who are totally responsible for mess we’re in.”

“Totally” . . . can’t go there. Between RINOs and Bush ignoring the illegal alien problem and pushing through the prescription drug bill, the Republicans did not help matters. We couldn’t even afford the prescription drug bill when it was passed.

What conservatives need to ride hard is that the liberals and moderates drug us over the course of 50, maybe 70 years, incrementally toward untenable levels of spending on massive socialist programs. What has happened in recent years has only been the final tipping point after mismanaging the government (purposefully) by spending a grotesque and repulsive amount of money on worthless give-away social programs that reward the intentionally unproductive and morally degenerate segments of our society. Liberals, in collusion with the media, browbeat us for years in that direction in the public forum.

Totally responsible . . . no. Largely responsible . . . absolutely.

“radical deregulation of the financial industry that produced this debacle”

How can you call excessive government involvement “radical deregulation?”

This is excellent advice, and Obama should take heed. Keep demonizing the big banks. Make their lives difficult at every turn. Never mind the leverage they have over, say, the housing market.

No “recovery summer” for you.

I swear practically all of America will have a 24/7 party for at least two weeks if Obama steps down right now, I would say that is a start for a stimulus, giving hope back to America that the “failed messiah” is gone, and now its time to start looking for a better more “qualified” candidate.
