(Iowa) Police: Fights Near Fair 'Not Racial Motivated'

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Des Moines police said Wednesday that they do not believe fights near the state fairgrounds were racially motivated or connected.

Officials discussed the fights at a news conference held Wednesday afternoon. Police said officers and detectives are looking into three major incidents during the 10 days of the Iowa State Fair. Officials said the incidents are not connected.

Des Moines police are trying to determine what led to a series of attacks outside the Iowa State Fairgrounds over the weekend that included the assault of two police officers.

Sgt. David Murillo stated in a report on Friday night: On-duty officers at the fairgrounds advise there was a group of 30 to 40 individuals roaming the fairgrounds openly calling it ‘beat whitey night.’

And State Rep. Ako Abdul-Samad, D-Des Moines said he doesn’t have enough information to decide if the fights were racially motivated.

It is a cover-up. If the same thing the happened were whites beating up blacks, then it would be racial. In other words, blacks cannot be accused of being racial. It is impossible. FBI statistics show that violent interracial crime is 9-1 black on white. Personally, I believe it’s worse than that because many aren’t convicted (OJ juries).
