So, Will Democrats Disinherit The Meek For Crist’s Sake?
IBD's Capital Hill ^ | 8/25/2010 | Ed Carson

Marco Rubio and Kendrick Meek on Tuesday easily won the GOP and Democratic nominations for Florida’s U.S. Senate seat. They’ll face off in a 3-way race with Republican-turned-independent Gov. Charlie Crist.

Rubio holds a slim lead over Crist in the latest Real Clear Politics poll average, 35.4%-34%. Meek is a distant third at 17%.

To be blunt, Meek appears to have no chance of winning. Any traction he gets will likely come at the expense of Crist, ensuring a Rubio victory. So, will Democrats abandon Meek for Crist’s sake?

I love it!

Oh dear! What a dilemma. You know if they try to strong-arm Meek he’s going to scream bloody murder. If they were going to try to bribe him, Sestak-style, they would have done that by now. Wouldn’t they?

Then again, maybe they will still try to make him an offer he can’t refuse, now that he’s shown himself to be a spoiler they will have to deal.

If they do that, of course, it will be in the full glare of publicity. No way can they explain it away or laugh it off. I can’t see him dropping out to become the new undersecretary of bottle-washing.

It’s all the race thing. The DemonRats can’t dump Meeks because, if they do, they’ll alienate about 50% of their voters, the blacks. That means they’ve got to fight Crist, probably giving Rubio tne win.

Last night there was a thread on here about Anita (Mao is my hero) Dunn, wife of the long term Obama personal attorney and current White House Counsel Robert F. Bauer, ‘disassociating’ herself from the DNC to work as an advisor to the Crist campaign. Oh, so subtle, Anita! Anyone think the Obama Administration isn’t working for Crist?

If Crist pulls support away from Meek, Rubio wins.

Crist is marginal, at best and Meek can only win the leftist stronghold in south Floriduh. Rubio should easily take the more conservative northern half of the state.

Doubt it. Crist will struggle to break 10%. That could still make it as close as the AK race currently is. But he cannot win.

Crist will struggle to break 10%.

I think thats probably true. I know he has 8 million dollars, but I still think he'll come in behind Meek, who I think will end up with 75 % of the Dem vote.

Its really amazing to think how stupid Crist is for not just running for reelection as Governor. Dumbkopf.

I don’t think the Demon-rats will abandon Meek. They’ll be called racist.

Whatever the polls, those who support Crist will never bother to vote — what motivation would there be?

I see a bit of concern that Rubio did not mention the Tea Party in his speech... I hope he does whatever he needs to do from here to win. I don’t need lip service.

If I ran the NRC, I’d be printing 4-face T-Shrits with Rubio/West/Haley/Brewer... this is not you Grandpa Bush’s GOP!

Is there a video mashup artist in the house?

I think if Charlie wins, they use him in 012 as the “independent” candidate for POTUS, powered by Sorosbucks.
The MSM will start swooning over his potential.

Baraq’s only hope is to split the opposition and win a Clintonian plurality.

That will look so cool to have the Democrats screw their black candidate to support a white guy.

Crist will appeal to liberal northeast Jews who tend to be uncomfortable voting Republican and would see Meeks as ‘too black.’* So he definitely will pull away those voters from Meeks as the official Dem candidate.

How the blacks in FL (and elsewhere) react over the long term to their guy being tossed under the bus by the powers-that-be will be interesting. One could hardly blame them for becoming angry with Obama in particular. And Dunn is not there on he own volition.

If it were Meeks v. Rubio only, Rubio would pull off a significant number of those voters, but Crist provides the perfect alternative.

*You know, not clean and articulate, speaking the negro dialect only when he chooses, like some *other* black pols.
