It was the bomb on his A-4 that took out most of the fire control crew and blew the first holes through the armored deck.
I don't blame McCain for not firing up the engine and rolling it off the deck. That would have resulted in a posthumous Navy Cross. My point is that everything he did in Vietnam is irrelevant. His actions for the last 26 years in Congress are what matter.
