My read is that the GOP has figured out that they need to hit the Democratic Party on its weak point -- IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID -- and are being careful to avoid distracting sideshow issues.

It looks like there's another newbie (or maybe a retread) calling conservative values and the fight against the militant homosexual agenda a "sideshow issue".
