Like she is a true Mexican. More like a European. How come Mexico doesn’t have one of the true Indian Mexicans enter? Mexican society is still heavily stratified. The Europeans that colonized Mexico are at the top.
You especially see it in entertainment: they are almost indistinguishable from Americans, because we have similar European origins.
The (original) native population is still at the bottom, just scraping by.

This was something that always amused me when we lived in Venezuela: the Venezolanos were so proud that “there’s no racial discrimination in Venezuela”, yet it always seemed the lighter-skinned Venezuelans got the best jobs in government and had the most influence. You rarely saw a mestizo or an indio in any sort of position of authority.
