Why Is 'Outspoken' Hollywood Silent On Plans to Build Mosque Near Ground Zero?
FOX News ^ | 8/23/10 | Hollie McKay

Posted on 08/23/2010 2:04:13 PM PDT by dselig

When it comes to controversial issues such as same sex marriage, global warming, and fighting Arizona's immigration laws, Hollywood has never held back in advancing their opinions. However, in the wake of President Obama’s announcement that Muslims have the “right” to build up a mosque near New York’s 9/11 Ground Zero, the typically outspoken entertainment industry is staying strangely silent.

A couple of celebrities such as Kevin Nealon and Russell Simmons, posted links to the story on their Twitter accounts, but withheld any personal judgments. Kirk Douglas wrote on his MySpace page that he was “confused” about the mosque plans because while he has Muslim friends, he also feels he it would be “painful” to the victims of 9/11 families.

Yet no other high-profile celebrity has seriously addressed the issue, and attempts to seek comments garnered a chorus of “no comment,” “unavailable to comment,” or no response at all.

So where are all the Tinseltown tweets? The agreement or disagreement over Obama’s decision? Why isn’t Hollywood speaking up?

"Hollywood was once a place that celebrated American values. All that excites the Hollywood elite now are the lefty agenda items of the day like gay marriage or attacking Arizona's immigration law. On more controversial subjects, such as the Ground Zero Mosque, Hollywood tries to ignore the controversy altogether,” Dan Gainor of the Culture and Media Institute told Pop Tarts. “Kirk Douglas is one of the few to express any comment about the idea. The rest hide in the comfort of their 90210 mansions. Perhaps Hollywood got too excited defending pedophiles like director Roman Polanski to care about anything ordinary Americans might support."

No-win sitch for them. They say what they want to say, make their American customers even more disgusted with them than they are now. Say what their American customers want them to say, and they risk suicide bombers in their theaters. This could cause damage to a print, and those things are expensive.

It is a rather deafening silence, considering on any other subject, they can’t wait to impart their dufus insights on the peasantry.

Kirk Douglas is also semi-retired, which would account him speaking on the matter.

Why Is ‘Outspoken’ Hollywood Silent On Plans to Build Mosque Near Ground Zero?

Maaybe they are trying to figure thsi thing out yet...let me help them!

When the founding fathers thought of America, their little baby, the last thing they wanted was an invasive force to stifle, smother it, and then overwhelm it and kill it.

Most people do not recognize that what happens in a mosque is sedition. Pure and simple. Islam is not just a “religion”, it is a cult. Larger than that though, it is a political system, it is it’s own government, a economic system (which includes funding new mosque construction), its judicial...all wrapped up in the word sharia. This is inclusive of its military (jihadis) all rolled into one with one intent ...and that is to rule wherever they take root. It is a invasive, systemic infection looking to take over the host once it has quantum.

This is not just a “religion”, but something that cloaks itself in those terms so it should not be given the same treatment contemplated under the first amendment. The Korans Sharia rules are to consume whatever government there is wherever it goes.
Islam is political, and it’s goal is to supplant and replace. Globally.

When the founding fathers thought of America, their little baby, the last thing they wanted was an invasive force to stifle, smother it, and then overwhelm it and kill it.

The sooner America learns this , the better.

Obama? Obama and Company? Should be tried for treason in this issue for promoting the establishment of a foreign government on our soils. He is doing nothing to protect America as per his oath. Also, as a Muslim, he knows this, he know far better, he knows sharia, but is looking to deceive America.

Any of the social/political issues of the day are no win situations for them, because they can alienate over half of their fan base/potential customers. But that fact generally doesn’t keep them from speaking out loudly on the liberal side of issues.

Hard to believe that they are concerned about offending someone’s sensibilities, when they clearly don’t give a blank about offending people on issues such as homosexual marriage, global warming, and the Arizona immigration law.

Well, Brad Pitt is busy not getting married until “everyone can marry”, and according to the Drudge headline wants the death penalty for BP execs. So he’s far too preoccupied to weigh in on the Victory Mosque. I’m sure his opinion would be profound.

I hope it’s because many Americans have become annoyed at celebrities telling them how to think, vote, eat, drive, raise their kids, live their lives, etc.

Hopefully, they’ve stopped going to see movies with stars who aggravate the heck out of them. I can’t get into their latest role and pretend they’re some hero when all I can see is the political idiot who they normally are.

Perhaps it is because, way back in whatever is left of their tiny minds, they dimly realize that they will be the first to be buried up to their necks and stoned for adultery, homosexuality, and lewd public behavior.

Also, they don’t think they would look good in burkas?

The irony of brain-dead multi-millionaire Hollywood actors and singers 'boldly speaking out' with specious, predictable, cookie-cutter opinions 100% of their fellow Hollywood buds agree on but hiding under their beds when a real controversy erupts is precious.

They are afraid to criticize Muslims because the followers of Mohammad seem to be the pet victim du jour for the left - but they see the polls that show a clear majority of Americans view the Ground Zero mosque for what it is - a symbol of Muslim triumph over the Great Satan - America - and don't like it. So, the show business elites suddenly decide to clam up.

Not surprising considering just about all the Hollywood big-mouths are cowardly opportunists with no real idea of what they're talking about when it comes to politics. They just want to run with the liberal pack because it's 'cool' to be a lefty in Hollywood and besides, things like gay marriage, abortion-on-demand and drug legalization all fit nicely into the amoral Hollywood lifestyle.

However, on this one, there is no upside. So, the craven cowards, so eager to spout their stupid opinions on other issues of which they understand little, are silent. Oh, but that they would stay that way and not burden us with their idiotic opinions. Well, let's enjoy it while it lasts.

Thanks for helping to spread the fact that Islam is not a religion, but a political system that demands allegiance to Islam, and all other religions are taboo.

Our systems of laws? Gone, to be replaced with “sharia” law, judgment by mullahs.

Our freedom of speech? Only if we pray 5 times a day, with our backsides in the air, chanting to “allah”

Our women, not to be educated, and not allowed to go out in public without a male relative.

Our ability to marry prescribed by the mullahs, and we could be married off to whoever they choose when we are little girls.

Our economic system? Destroyed. Our way of life? Back in the middle ages.
