Islamic Center Attracts Protesters on Both Sides

Two protests on Sunday morning, in the normally quiet blocks north of Ground Zero, claimed to be on the side of tolerance. One camp stood in favor of the mosque and Islamic center that has been proposed for the area; the other argued against.

Around 500 of those opposed gathered in a cordoned-off area, heavily monitored by police. They sang patriotic songs and spoke of a hijacked Constitution, a renegade presidency and tolerance toward the sensitivities of New Yorkers whose relatives died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

A counterprotest, smaller but equally passionate, gathered steam two blocks away, where about 200 people chanted that tolerance should be directed toward members of different religions, and that the values of the Constitution supported their side of the argument.

I’m trying to understand how a religion that celebrates and propegates mass murder and acts of war towards us believes it has ANY rights under the constitution. I’m also having a hard time understanding a President who feels that they have those rights as well. .

Tennessee. There was a woman from The Great State of Tennessee who spoke at the rally and who I think said all that needed to be said. A brave and courageous woman ( her name escapes me at the moment) who rocked the crowd when she said that "Islam is not a religion, it’s a geo-political military movement."

The general feelings at this event were not good. It’s hard to describe what not good means as you stand on a corner for over three hours on a Sunday in August staring at a space were several buildings were destroyed and almost 3000 people were killed, some I knew. What’s equally hard to describe is the feeling of contemplating why they died but you know they died because they represented freedom; they died because they were American.

Of course, now the ideology that sent the 9/11 murderers (Islam) is seeking to firmly establish its dominance in New York City. It’s openly doing so by setting up its victory mosque a headstone away from ground zero and only 500 to 2000 people show up to stop it.

No matter. The overall crowd was peaceful but determined and angry. This is the good part because we need to get determined and angry in order to preserve our freedom and way of life.

Interesting, the liberal media is reporting 500 at the Ground Zero protest and Fox News said it was over 1,000, and it sure as heck looked like over 1,000, and for the counter-protest the liberal media is saying 200 and Fox News says about 75. Seems to me Fox News has a better record on accuracy then the Lame Stream Media does, so I’ll go with their figure.
