Jesse Jackson calls for jobs, not blame
Kalamazoo Gazette ^ | August 22, 2010 | Kathy Jessup

KALAMAZOO– Blaming former President George W. Bush or “radio talk-show hosts” won’t deliver the votes this November to maintain Democrats’ control in Congress, says Chicago civil rights leader The Rev. Jesse Jackson.

Instead, Jackson told an audience of about 100 people here Saturday that voters are looking for “job benefits, not jobless benefits".

“No statewide (Democratic) ticket can survive with a 12 percent (African-American) voter turnout in Detroit,” said Jackson. “You’re going to have trouble when campuses can’t be inspired.”

Jackson acknowledged the federal government has passed a series of stimulus bills aimed at aiding homeowners and lowering joblessness. But he said so far the money has “fed the leaves and not the roots.”

“It’s midday in our politics and midnight in our economy,” he added. “Michigan has gone from making cars to shuffling cards (casinos). It’s no longer General Motors, it’s Government Motors and today GM’s No. 1 market for Buicks is China.

Jackson gave only fleeting mention to President Barack Obama during his 45-minute speech from the Galilee pulpit. He said Obama is “being attacked for taking a vacation” and has had both his citizenship and religion questioned.

“(Religion is determined) not by name, but by behavior,” said Jackson, referring to recent national polls showing some Americans question the president’s assertion that he’s Christian. “It’s not by the bark it wears, but by the fruit it bears.”

Then by his standard to measure someones religious merits, Obama is not a Christian. He wouldn’t pray or acknowledge the notion on National Day of prayer saying that it belongs in private. Bush prayed with everyone on that day. Fine to each his own but then he chooses to acknowledge Islam and celebrate Ramadan and make an event out of it. So, by Jackson’s scale Obama is a Muslim because his fruit are not showing signs of Christ in it’s ripeness. Thanks Jesse for clearing this up !! :)

"“Jobs, Justice, Peace”"

Reduce taxes, regulation and gov't spending (employment),

Return to the vision of being a Nation of Laws, not Imams issuing Fatwas

and eschew religions of violins.

"He called for government to provide funds to hire unemployed tradespeople in neighborhoods filled with foreclosed and abandoned houses to weatherize homes and rebuild those communities."

That's the crucial difference between Jackson's crowd and the people of TN. Nashville didn't wait for governmental assistance; they started disaster relief and cleaning up immediately.

He's becoming incoherent and irrelevant.

Even more-so.

I'm lazy.

An audience of 100? Take away his staff members and media and then count how many showed up?
