The place I worked for went out of business two years ago. I have a 401K that I can raid completely by taking the payout. I am thinking about it.

There used to be stories about how the govt. was going to take over all 401K's and manage them. I haven't seen one in a while and that scares me.

Good observation. It's foolish to think the government is not going to mess with 401k's considering what they have done so far.It's only a matter of time now,so you might as well use the money to take care of family needs

I have a TSA that I have been saving for close to 20 years now, and plan to take out enough to settle some outstanding bills.

With those monthly bills not coming in. I should be able to bank away quite a bit before I retire in 3 years.
