Young organizer Barack recounts that he became a Christian there [Trinity United Church of Christ], influenced by Wright, and remains one today.

OK, so when were you baptized? You weren't? OK, so when are you getting baptized as a public display of your faith in Jesus Christ? Can't do it, can you, because your muzzie brethren would be obligated to take you out, right...?

Checkmate Zero.

He "belonged" to the United Church of Christ, a church that does not require a formal Baptism with water to be a member. They have something they call an Affirmation of Faith which is merely a oral pledge given with a group of people -- no certificate is presented afterwards.

I was once a member of that denomination and our pledge was something like we agree to no creed. When I became a Catholic at age 20, I received the full sacrament of Baptism because the Catholic church would not recognize a "baptism" that did not include water. I have a certificate for THAT one.
