I have no doubt that the mosque issue is unimportant to Libertarians. Religion for them is something to be tolerated, but not embraced. I would say that Libertarians have a negative view of religion, especially when it comes to issues such as abortion, drugs, and marriage. There is much that I find attractive about Libertarianism, especially the idea of limited government. What I do not like about Libertarianism is the view that everything is based upon materialism. Man does not live on bread alone.

Many/ most Libertarians are small government liberals. That's why moral/patriotic issues like this one are "red herrings."
They're only partly conservative. And it's almost all about money and living the way they want to live.
