STOCKHOLM WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is suspected of rape in Sweden, where authorities have issued a warrant for his arrest, officials said Saturday.
The 39-year-old Australian denied the allegations on WikiLeaks' Twitter page, saying they "are without basis and their issue at this moment is deeply disturbing."
I knew this swine would go down sooner or later but this is a bolt from the blue.
Got a link to a source on that?
Tanks!
I’ve been at work all night, didn’t know about any of this. Nice way to start the day.
Sorry about that. The Yahoo url for this story is about 50 characters long and I just didn’t get it pasted.
You didn’t miss anything at work. It’s a breaking story, maybe half and hour old at this point.
It’s been in the Breaking news sidebar since 4:40ET this morning.
Ah, okay. I suspect by noon we’ll have the talking heads talking about how this is proof Obama is serious about the leak and isn’t afraid to play hardball—whereas if Bush were still around it’d be about the international Cheney-led conspiracy to suppress free speech.
hmmm. Did he rape a woman? Something “off” about this guy, just from his photo
Willieclintonleaks
That should be about 40 years in prison.
Plus chemical castration.
“hmmm. Did he rape a woman? Something off about this guy, just from his photo”
I’d say a reindeer, but he isn’t tall enough.
If it’d been one accusation...he’d easily get off. But two of these puts him into a sensitive position. He’s hiding in the rural areas of Sweden and getting help out of Pirate Party members. Both victims are likely Pirate Party members and one story says that they know each other. In Sweden...if convicted and they get serious about this....he’d get around eight years for each charge. The best this guy can hope for is a 16-year sentence and gets out four years early for good behavior. He can forget about WikiLeaks and just start counting the months.
Two women claim rape and molestation.
It’ll only be minutes until stories start appearing claiming the charges are part of a CIA plot.
What? He’s still alive???
1.)Bill Ayers
2.)Biily Jeff, (Jane Doe # 5)
Any others come to your mind Freepers?
Why “Chemical Castration” ? Let’s go for the real thing ! ;)
I have to say the timing is suspicious. It may be true or not true. But if it’s not true, then something is deeply wrong with the world. Rape and sexual assault is often one of those “he said, she said” things and testimony is easy to purchase or fabricate.
I can see several different possibilities here.
1. Total (or near total) conincidence -- just so happens that he deserves this and it really happened, recently. Add to that the possibility that the women may have seen an opportunity to give their complaints some traction when they saw him in the news, maybe even to get some sort of payoff. On a "dirty tricks" scale of 1 to 10, this would be a 0, 1 or 2. Heh. A worthless dirtbag with skeletons in the closet, deserving (at the least) long prison time regardless of his wikileaks BS.
2. Dredging up the past: depending on the statute of limitations for rape in that country, this happened a while back, but got "brought current". Persuasive reminders by persons unknown have convinced the women to come forward. Originally reported or not, these are now prosecutable crimes based on facts, even though they are not recent. Just a taste of "dirty tricks"... 1 to 3 on the scale. The peacenik turd has other dirt in his past that catches up to him. The dirty tricks still don't compare to the original crime.
3. Fabrication: a good-sized portion of "dirty tricks" from power brokers that excel in such things, along with threats of more in store if he does not get his act together. The accusations are groundless. But with contrition and damage control, he could prevent a long jail sentence. No more wikileaks, for sure. 5-6 on the scale. Still, the weasel deserves something along these lines for his indiscretions. IMHO.
4. Kiss "yer butt" goodbye: This is the beginning of an all-out assault prompted from stateside (probably) and directed through powerful lines of association (for instance, via George Soros). The individual to conduct prosecution and the strategy for it have already been chosen. Many damning facts are in place. Sentencing will be severe. Additional problems --even worse ones-- await. An innocent (but arguably deserving) victim is persecuted thoroughly. 9 to 10 on the "dirty tricks" scale. Butthead might object that he does not deserve this, but as you say, he is playing hardball with the big boys and losing big time.
As you can probably tell, I have a good imagination when it comes to conspiracy theories. Hehehehe
