I know this won't be popular here, but I'll say it: if the Republicans spend even a moment of time on social wedge issues, it will just strengthen Obama's hand.

Scream it loud, scream it proud, brutha...you are SO right. NOW is NOT the time for this. The stakes are too high. The minute they can paint the GOP as a party of religious fanatics who want to take away their "rights" to act like losers, we lose.

hard core social conservative here, but you are quite right.

priorities following gop blowout are:

1) STOP the insanity, and end the Obama agenda;
2) Selectively repeal what we can (as much as possible);
3) Try to advance an affirmative agenda of cutting taxes and environmental regs, etc. (as much as possible);
4) if in doubt, go back to step 1

There is nothing liberal about prioritizing the conservative agenda around those things where there is most agreement. That doesn’t mean we are abandoning any social agenda, we are just behaving rationally in light of political reality.

There is currently a strong “no more socialism” majority. We should take that ball and run with it, as far as we can down the field. It would be utter folly to do something divisive and stupid while we have this window of opportunity. Stupidity is not a conservative value!

(Besides, working on the fiscal/economic agenda is good for the social fabric of America. It’s not like we fail to make progress on the social agenda by working on economic freedom. The two are inseparable).

Let’s not do anything which hurts our halting of socialism!

Polls mean nothing to this administration. We can get as excited as we want but it won’t matter. This will take time and it will be a long uphill battle. Before, when we had small majorities in Congress the Democrats used the filibuster to stop everything we wanted to do. That will be true again. The present administration will pass everything they can no matter what we think and hold on to it as long as they can, which will be a long time.

How long have we known about the corruption in and failure of the graduated income tax, social security, medicare, welfare, HUD, EPA, and many more Progressive policies? Are they still there?

However, to even have a chance we must do as you say and start now and fight hard for a long time. We can win but we shouldn’t get discouraged when miracles don’t happen after the next few elections. We must keep at it.

Come on, we got to cross the 20% goal line!

That will never happen. What needs to happen is a movement of "Overall Disapproval" to "Strongly Disapprove". The fence-sitters need to jump. They aren't because the MSM is too much in love with Obamugabe to criticize him.

When the MSM turns on him, then his whole world will come crashing down. "When?", you ask. When the MSM realizes that they won't be seen as "racist" for critisizing The Won. (AKA, Pigs flying)
