The fake "recovery" was nice while it lasted, says famous apocalyptic forecaster Gerald Celente, founder of the Trends Research Institute. But now the fun's over, and we're headed for what Celente describes as the "Greatest Depression."
Specifically, the always startling Celente says the country is headed for rising unemployment, poverty, and violent class warfare as the government efforts to keep the economy going begin to fail.

We have a huge underclass that has been on the government dole for 40 or more years. That mean entire generations of people know nothing but government handouts. It has become an expectation and in their mind a right as dear to their hearts as freedom of speech is to yours.
What do you think will happen when these benefits are cut?

WE also have huge garden, access to fresh wild salmon, and moose & caribou make up a large part of our meat. A man can do quite well with 1000 lbs of tatoes in basement.
I see huge increases in the price of food coming down the road for America. Many people in urban areas will see the affects of these increases.

It’s not too difficult to build one. I did last year and now have a nice flock of New Hampshire Reds.
My biggest problem has been foxes and raccoons. I do let mine free range sometimes, but you have to keep your eyes open for predators.

Mao exported grain for forign money to buy needed forign goods while 10 million starved to death. So too Stalin in the late 20’s, early 30’s, starving up near 10 million.
During our Depression we had one arm of the government spending tax money to keep crop/food prices high, and another arm taxing to buy high cost foods for those that couldn’t afford food. Also we taxed, bought and destroyed a lot of food. Victor David Hanson talks about his father’s farm having 30 relatives living on it at one time.
Trust me. These socialist idiots can do exports and staving at the same time. Easy. You, me, us, we are the economic shock absorbers of the socialist state. We take the hit, so that they may have their comforts.
Don’t also forget the government workers. They are habituated to govthink, and in some ways may be worse off than those on the dole, whom in my observation show immense flexibility and creativeness in ‘working’ the system.
For now.
They’ll be the absolute last to be cut, due to political considerations.
And if and whent hey are, those cuts will be attributed to the greed of the “haves”.

They succeeded and that ended that.
Spices of all kind are a good item to stock. ITSHTF trade with countries where spices are harvested might dry up or if they are harvested and processed here in the states they may be stopped to focus those factories/farms on food stuffs instead.
Spices can be bought in bulk at places like Sam's Club really cheap compared to those little packages you get at the grocery store.

Alright. Your points are well taken. Under a Communist dictatorship (or its imperialist corollary, in Ireland's case), it is possible for a country's economics to be so FUBAR-ed that the people are starving while their Government is exporting their grain. It can happen. It has happened.
But I'm hoping that the Gun Owners of America would be successful in preventing it from happening here.

Unless you have a large family or eat a lot of eggs, 4-5 birds will give you more than enough eggs, especially with birds like Buff Orpingtons or Rocks. Mine lay 1-2 eggs per bird per day in the season. If times go really bad having a little excess will come in handy for bartering.
Don’t count on the Govt to save you when the banks fail. You won’t want to be within 5 miles of a bank. When folks find out that ATM machine ain’t workin Look out Lucy. Its a good idea to have several months of food stores and some cash at home in case you need to stay away from society and lay low for awhile. When this economy finally crashes its going to get ugly.
