I have to agree with you. I am a huge fan of the Coen Brothers. Miller's Crossing is among the best films made and is much overlooked.

The Coen's movies, even those that are not great, ‘Hudsucker Proxy’ comes to mind, are so incredibly beautiful to look at. They are simply stunning in their camera work and sets.

The novel is significantly different from the Wayne version of the film, which is good, but is primarily a character driven piece that is absolutely a mediocre film without Wayne. Darby is OK, but Campbell couldn't act a lick and besides Dennis Hopper, the heavies in the film are barely passable actors.

I look forward to seeing how the Coen's recreate this film in their image. It should be fun, and if they make it different enough from the original it should stand on it's own. As far as lefties are concerned, if I only watched films done by Conservatives, I would see very few films, and I truly like a good film. Most actors and artists are leftists. They are emotionally driven, therefore they have no rational. This is why for centuries they where on the same social level as vagrants and prostitutes. It is only very recently in history that any body would consider their opinions on anything.

‘the heavies in the film are barely passable actors.’

ROBERT DUVAL is a ‘barely passable actor’?
