Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger Wednesday said he was sending more than 200 national guard troops to the California-Mexico border.
After a tour of the border Wednesday, Schwarzenegger said he plans to have 224 troops in place by Sept. 1.
These men and women will provide much-needed assistance to help secure our border, but its important to remember that this is only the beginning," Schwarzenegger said in a statement Wednesday.

Not to worry, they will be there to “observe and report” just like Paul Blart, the Mall Cop.

Schwarzenegger initially criticized the administration's plan to deploy troops to the border, saying it was the wrong approach to dealing with illegal immigration.
There is a border between Californian and Mexico?
Its gonna take more than that.
((snort))
Sometimes you can tell what someone is thinking not by what they say, but by what they do. And when a politician actually does something dramatic that goes 180 degrees from his career rhetoric, it speaks volumes for what he thinks is his top priority.
The fact that he will do this publicly strongly suggests that he is, and Californians should be, very afraid.
Apparently he has had a “come to Jesus” moment on this issue. It reminds me of movies like Deep Impact and 2012, where the president, usually played by Morgan Freeman, finds out some terrible news that only his staff knows, and acts accordingly.
Bless his heart.

Yep, and it cuts east to west across the town of Yreka.
On Telemundo news today they showed what looked like an army of Border Patrol agents lined up facing the border at San Diego, like they were anticipating an invasion or something (!), but I can’t find anything about it in English. And of course the Spanish-language news (this one owned by NBC) was waxing indignant at the very idea of securing out borders.
Planet Hollywood to the rescue!
I’d like to see the Rules of Engagement for these troops before I look at this thing as just another useless gesture.
Until I hear of some of these National Guard troops actually exchanging fire with the Zetas I’m taking this as a worn-out publicity stunt like all the others.
The National Guard may have weapons, but you can bet the farm they wont get any bullets.
Unless he changes things ANY troops sent to the border only do back office function.
After Clinton sent NG to do actual border patrol and that IIC marine killed an illegal none fo the troops sent to the border do much
I guess the thinking is they can do office work and relieve Border Agents who can then go into the field.
I say let them do what they are trained to do
Barn, door, horse...
He’s a dumb-o-crat that says it all.
How come Arnie can order the California National Guard to the border, but Arizona had to ask permission?
Compared to his stint in the movies, his stint as a political leader lacks any but the most dubious of distinctions!!!
Term Limits. Ahnold, you won’t be baaaack.
