Ground Zero Mosque Group Says It Has No Plan to Move Site or Meet With N.Y. Governor
CNSNews.com ^ | August 18, 2010 | Patrick Goodenough

The organization planning to build a mosque and Islamic center near Ground Zero denied reports Tuesday about a scheduled meeting to discuss the matter with New York Gov. David Paterson. The group reaffirmed that it has no intention of moving the controversial project.

Earlier Rep. Peter King (R.-N.Y.), a vocal critic of the plan, said Paterson told him during a phone conversation that he planned to meet with the developers later this week to discuss the possibility of an alternative site.

The project is the brainchild of Feisel Abdul Rauf, an Islamic cleric who heads the Cordoba Initiative, an organization whose stated goal is to improve Muslim-West relations.

Formally called Park51 – the address is 45-51 Park Place in lower Manhattan, about 200 yards from the World Trade Center site – the project widely dubbed the “Ground Zero Mosque” has become a major national political issue.

Opponents argue that its location is insensitive to the families and loved ones of those killed and injured when al-Qaeda attacked on 9/11. The terrorist network claims to be driven by the tenets of Islam.

Paterson last week offered the organizers state assistance if they agreed to move the site, but they declined.

Tuesday’s news suggested a fresh bid by the governor, but the Cordoba Initiative shot down the idea.

“Imam Feisel Abdul Rauf is currently abroad,” it said in a statement. “Despite several media reports, there have been no meetings scheduled between Imam Feisel and Governor Paterson, nor have there been any communications between the offices of Cordoba Initiative and the Governor.”

Here's another reference. You can do a search on the title f the article - at the end of the snippet below- and the thread should come up which will have the links. I'm in the middle of assmbling a list of stuff at the moment to see if I have something more solid on how he's been put on the payroll.

His Cordoba Initiative foundation has been tweeting and blogging and posting away about assorted endorsements of his Ground Zero mosque project. But of Rauf’s taxpayer-funded travels to the Middle East, there is no news. No chatty missive from the imam about who’s on his dance card in Doha, or Manama, or Dubai, or Abu Dhabi. No updates on how or where or from whom he is now expecting to procure the $100 million for his Cordoba House. Nor is there any detail about the itinerary of his wife and partner in Islamic nonprofits, Daisy Khan, for whom the State Department has arranged her own taxpayer-funded junket to Dubai and Abu Dhabi this same month. ..----------- "Imam Feisal Watch: Let’s Try It Again, Where’s the Man Behind the GZ Mosque?," Pajamas Media | August 16, 2010 | Claudia Rosett Posted on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 9:12:23 AM by Kaslin

Definitely a victory Mosque. Just check the name, “Cordoba”. Cordoba was Islamic Spain’s capital before the reconquista. It’s meant to show that the 3rd Muslim Expansion is well underway.
Definitely. And the State Department is helping to fund it. The DEMOCRAT PARTY State Department. The one funded by HARRY REID and NANCY PELOSI.

You know, the BILL & HILLARY Department of State.

Thanks, piasa. Please include me on any posts you make on this subject in FR and feel free to freep-mail me anytime on this subject.

I’ve been delinquent here in NJ in getting involved in politics (been extremely busy at work and a couple of other projects... no excuse but true) but now I’m going to get active in electing an R from my congressional district and I want to be as knowledgeable as I can be on this issue when talk about it with others.

Yup, that's the kind of openness to dialogue we were looking forward to.

Did the "muckraker" site, whoever that is, ever get around to sourcing where they pulled that information and did they ever mention John Bennett's role? Everyone seems to be avoiding that like the plague. I'm about to keel over and am still not finished finding multiple sources for the stuff that I've seen so far... will come back after a snooze to check the link.

The thoughtlessness and insensitivity to Americans is breathtaking.

If a group of self-proclaimed crusaders crashed into the towers in Abu Dubai killing thousands and destroying part of the city, and then a Christian group said they would build a YMCA two blocks from that site, tell me what the Moslems would do.

They would riot.

This is not acceptable. The entire area surrounding the 911 WTC site and environs is holy ground where there are still the ashes and pieces of bone from the victims.

Build you da&m Islamic center elsewhere you insensitive muslims.

NY'ers, why don't you ask the good people of Oklahoma City if building this hate magnet on ground zero is a good idea?

You have the right to see it that way.

We have a Muslim president. a liberal Congress who fellates him, we have a government, which sues states who try to force fedaral laws, we have an Attorney General who gives a free ride to Black panthers, we have two lesbians on the Supreme Court, We have courts who exact a fine from people who try to find Obama’s Birth Certificate. We now have government control over Auto’s and Wall street and drilling for energy, they have our health care , they will in all probability pass Cap and trade and control the air we breathe and charge us for it with carbon credits.

But then we have you who makes bold statements about how they don’t have you by the balls.

Having us and our getting loose are two different things my friend, but at this point in time thay have us allright.

Hopefully we can loosen their grip in the 2010 election, but it will take a long time to get loose.

It wouldn't be muslim victory mosque if it were moved.

Imam Obamah says "sure, why not? ...err, I mean I have no opinion."

You either easily forget or have too little faith in millions of your fellow Americans who have formed a growing force in the Tea Party movement. The movement is less than two years old and yet it has already made inroads by removing incumbents via primaries, elections and state party platforms. The mosque at ground zero will become another issue the Tea Party movement will influence.

But then we have you who makes bold statements about how they don’t have you by the balls.

Then you surrendered to them? Have you converted or willing to subjugate yourself to them? Are you willing to be a muzzie?

Having us and our getting loose are two different things my friend, but at this point in time thay have us allright.

They only have you if allow it to happen. That is obviously true in your case.

Proof positive that their intention all along has been a Victory Mosque.
