WASHINGTON – Conservative superstar Ann Coulter today was dropped as a keynote speaker for WND's "Taking America Back National Conference" next month because of her plan to address an event titled "HOMOCON" sponsored by the homosexual Republican group GOProud that promotes same-sex marriage and military service for open homosexuals.
Joseph Farah, editor and chief executive officer of WND, said the decision was a gut-wrenching one for his team because of their fondness for Coulter as both a person and writer-speaker.
"Ultimately, as a matter of principle, it would not make sense for us to have Ann speak to a conference about 'taking America back' when she clearly does not recognize that the ideals to be espoused there simply do not include the radical and very 'unconservative' agenda represented by GOProud," said Farah. "The drift of the conservative movement to a brand of materialistic libertarianism is one of the main reasons we planned this conference from the beginning."
Asked by Farah why she was speaking to GOProud, Coulter said: "They hired me to give a speech, so I'm giving a speech. I do it all the time."
Farah then asked: "Do you not understand you are legitimizing a group that is fighting for same-sex marriage and open homosexuality in the military – not to mention the idea that sodomy is just an alternate lifestyle?"

I never thought I’d be supporting Joseph Farah against Ann Coulter, but I do here.
I don’t give a damn what she says at the so-called Homocon conference. Just agreeing to be there is a huge mistake.
If she doesn’t cancel, I don’t think she’ll ever regain her reputation among conservatives.
Ann, don't insult conservatives by doing the "what's the big deal?" song and dance.

1. People like Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, etc. are primarily entertainers.
2. Entertainers are successful if they are entertaining.
3. There is a niche market of people who call themselves conservatives. This niche enjoys hearing entertainers say conservative things. It doesn't matter if the entertainers saying these things are actually conservative.
4. Entertainers are in the entertainment business regardless of the political leanings they ape.

I will be very interested to read the transcripts of the speech. I wonder how she will position herself on the issue. There are actually quite a few conservatives who, while generally opposed to the “homosexual agenda”, don’t put it that high on their list of issues.
I love Ann, but I don’t trust her. Arianna Huffington used to be my favorite Conservative female as she would bitch slap liberals all day long on Crossfire. Look what happened to her;her husband came out of the closet and she decided to cash in and go against the conservatives full force. Also, the left has to many people to compete with regarding books and opinion.

If you think Rush Limbaugh is merely an entertainer, rather than the powerhouse force advancing conservatism as he has over the last 22 years, it shows your vast ignorance.
The "small government" conservatives. Not quite libertarians, but their main focus is on shrinking government. I guess you could call them the non-Social Conservatives.
Kudos to Joseph Farah. It’s time “conservatives” that promote the homosexual agenda lost readers, viewers and/or listeners.

I’m hoping that Ann intends to give them a walloping speech. I mean, does anyone know that she’s not going to criticize them? It is Coulter after all. That’s just me trying to be optimistic.

Good! Ann made a very stupid decision. GOProud is a phony front group. They f**ked up CPAC last year (CPAC’s fault of course for inviting them), and despite their noise about being pro-Reagan, pro-free market, etc., their founder recently Tweeted that “we are a pro-homosexual rights group, period. That’s what we stand for”. So despite the 1 or 2 homo advocates on FR and idiots like Meghan McCain, most conservatives understand the threat to children these activists pose. Ann screwed up. I hope she reconsiders. Thank you Joe Farah for doing the right thing.
