I'll take a crack at it.
Ms. O'Donnell:
I could defend the detractors of this mosque and make it very clear that the last thing that motivates them is Islamophobia, but if you were interested in anything about these people other than slandering them, you would know that. So, I will pretend for a moment that everyone opposed to this mosque, even the widows, parents and siblings of dead firefighters, cops and airline pilots, is motivated by hateful islamophobia, an islamophobia so strong it's as bad as any hate the Klan ever harbored for blacks. That is, after all, what you've accused these people of.
If that's true, then these evil haters have done the following:
Attended meetings.
Written op-eds and given interviews.
Talked about the issue on radio programs.
Carried signs.
Petitioned their government.
Requested that the mosque move, but still be in lower Manhattan.
Offered them alternate space donated by the State of New York. (That's what that "terrorist" Governor Patterson has been up to.)
Now, tell me...what on that list compares to slitting a flight attendant's throat? To bathing secretaries and stockbrokers in burning jet fuel in the name of God? Where is the 2 year old girl they have killed by driving her plane into a building? Where is the 11 year old science wiz on a National Geographic trip they have murdered?
Because I'm writing this on Free Republic, here are a couple of personal questions: Where is the battalion chief the mosque opponents have killed, like Al-Qaida killed our brother John Moran? Where are the authors the mosque opponents have killed, like Al-Qaida killed our sister, Barbara Olson? Show me the attack that Debbie Burlingame or Rush Limbaugh led that left sons without a father like John's boys, or left a man without his beautiful bride like Ted Olson.
Show me. Where are they? Where is the mayhem? Surely you, in your great wisdom, can't be wrong?
And one last question: This morning, when you accused people of being unspeakably evil because they disagreed with you on an issue, did you feel any sense of irony, or have you moved evolved past such silly things to a higher plane?
