NAACP President Benjamin Jealous said that his organization and 200 other groups are planning a rally on Oct. 2 in the District "to pull America back together and put America back to work. . . . On that day we will reflect Dr. King's true legacy and his determination to eliminate poverty, racism and hatred in all forms." Other organizations are staging "counter-events" on the Mall Aug. 28, including a grass-roots network of artists, community organizers and social activists calling themselves "Celebrate the Dream," which last Thursday secured a permit from the National Park Service to unveil an original sculpture on the Mall that day. The People's Memorial to King, which organizers say will be 77 feet wide and 37 feet tall, is being designed by Michael Murphy, a 35-year-old sculptor and assistant professor of art at Georgia College and State University.

Do it.
I just made the firm decision (and hotel reservations) yesterday. My family of 5 is driving from Colorado to be there.
he be jealous
They *use* MLK to advance their version of “civil rights”, which has no resemblance to the civil rights MLK and his faithful flock marched for.
the fast search I did only turned up a rally on 8/28/99 of 300 people, and that the KKK cancelled their proposed rally in opposition.
Do they regularly have a rally there on that day? So how did Glen get the day? think they forgot? Now its a big deal!
MLK’s neice will be attending the rally - wonder if they will call her names?
So, are they on the liberal Hate List or not?...:)
There...I made it easier for them to read....:)
Yeah, MLK had some crazy ideas.
Peace, tolerance, personal responsibility, hard work, self-reliance.
What ~was~ he thinking?

LOL! Sweet!
Just in case they missed the last two.....:)
One way you can tell who has a big interest in the issue is in the signs. I bet the NAACP shows up with a lot of professionally printed signs instead of individually made signs,
