The government did not admit the truth UNTIL after the facts were released at a investigative request by the family in 2005(13 months after he died), the official report itself did not come until three years after he died. The Generals still approved his Silver Star knowing that he had in fact been killed by friendly fire. My guess is that the family wouldn’t have said much if they knew the truth right a way instead of having to specifically request an investigation into his death.
There is no issue WHEN the government admitted the truth. The issue is that she knows the truth, thanks to the government (they did not have to admit to anything), thanks to congress, and thanks to the press coming around. She also got an apology, so there is no reason for her to keep being a fame whore.
Absolutely. I think if the truth were known behind every curtain, behind every door, behind every whispered conversation here at FR, we would all admit that under extreme duress bad judgments were made by every one of us at one time or another. It is impossible to know exactly what the motives were for this wrongheaded claim, but no one of us can tell that the folks that did it intended ill will. At a point, one has to let it go since there is nothing to be gained getting any more than the admission.
.....so what....?
My, my you really dont get it, do you?
McChrystal must be a democrat...
Thankfully, I never hit friendlies, as far as I know. I had to call in mortar rounds right in front of our lines one night. As I was "walking them in" the last correction moved them much closer than I had wanted [we're talking about a change of only 25 meters by mortar tubes located 3.5 km (over 2 miles) away. When the rounds hit I just knew that I had hit friendlies. I kept waiting for the call "corpsman up" to treat the wounded. Instead, the platoon sergeant called up, "That's perfect. Now give me smoke rounds exactly there at 15 second intervals until I say, "Stop"." We had a body out in from of our lines that we were trying to recover. We needed a smoke screen and the wind was from our backs.
Anyway, the guys back at the guns did a magnificent job and we were able to recover our Marine's body.
But it sure scared me!
[sorry, old Marine rambling again.]
Jesus Christ, one would think I was reading a lefty site with your response.
What is so "left" about not liking fame whores? What is so "left" about moving on after there has already been congressional hearings and punishment? The only "left" thing on this thread is you taking the Lord's name in vain to make a point.
Yours, yours, no I don't.
