Mayor Bloomberg Not Worried About Nuanced POTUS Stance On Mosque (Obama's Victory Mosque)
NY Daily News ^ | 8/16/10 | CELESTE KATZ

Mayor Bloomberg brushed aside a question about whether President Obama has tried to backpedal on his comments about building a mosque and Islamic cultural center near Ground Zero, comes the report from our invaluable Erin Einhorn:

First, President Obama took some heat for the speech he made last week that included what sounded like a defense of the Park51 project. Then he took some more heat for saying that he was commenting more generally on religious tolerance, not the "wisdom" of the location.

Tempest in a teapot, Mayor Bloomberg said today.

"You know, you try to read nuances into different things. I’ve known the president now for probably three years. I've had lots of conversations with him about what he believes and his vision for the future of America.

There are indeed two Americas. Despite the foolish rhetoric of Obama, we see the division on a daily basis. There is no middle ground. One of them is going to triumph. The flood of Hispanics into this country will fundamentally and radically change America. In less than a hundreds years, the informal capital of the United States will be in Mexico City if things do not change.

"Bloomberg LLC makes Dubai a financial news hub. Is this why the mayor is promoting the WTC mosque?"

Bloomberg is a shrewd financial operator (anytime a politician starts getting all sanctimonious, check your wallet).

Nuanced? 0blahblah specifically referenced the Ground Zero mosque five times at his Ramadamadingdong dinner.

"Recently attention has been focused on the construction of mosques in certain communities, particularly New York...sensitivities surrounding the development of lower Manhattan...the 9/11 attacks were deeply traumatic...and Ground Zero is indeed hallowed ground; but...I believe that muslims have the right to practice their religion as everyone else...and that includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan..."

So we can no longer say a prayer in a public school.

We cannot have a nativity scene in a public building or on public land.

The cross that stood on a mountain in California was destroyed and they aren’t allowed to replace the cross.

No prayers may be said at graduations at schools and universities across America.

But a mosque can be built at Ground Zero.

IOW, religious freedom for muslims but not for Christians.

“Parts of a landing gear from one of the planes that hit the World Trade Center on 9/11 broke through the roof and two floors, see tagged above on loading cart in elevator. The Burlington Coat Factory had not yet opened for busness that day, and employees were having breakfast in the basement. No one there was injured.”
