NY Times: In Weather Chaos, a Case for Global Warming
The New York Times ^ | August 14, 2010 | By JUSTIN GILLIS

The summer’s heat waves baked the eastern United States, parts of Africa and eastern Asia, and above all Russia, which lost millions of acres of wheat and thousands of lives in a drought worse than any other in the historical record.

Seemingly disconnected, these far-flung disasters are reviving the question of whether global warming is causing more weather extremes.

The collective answer of the scientific community can be boiled down to a single word: probably.

“The climate is changing,” said Jay Lawrimore, chief of climate analysis at the National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C. “Extreme events are occurring with greater frequency, and in many cases with greater intensity.”

He described excessive heat, in particular, as “consistent with our understanding of how the climate responds to increasing greenhouse gases.”

Most researchers trained in climate analysis, while acknowledging that weather data in parts of the world are not as good as they would like, offer evidence to show that weather extremes are getting worse.

“Global warming, ironically, can actually increase the amount of snow you get,” said Kevin Trenberth, head of climate analysis at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo.

“The climate is changing,”

Always has, always will.

Wait a minute! I thought climate and weather were 2 different things? Oh, that’s only when we have record-breaking low temperatures.

These idiots make NO mention of the cold weather in southern CA which delayed the fruit crop from ripening nor have they mention the historically cold weather in South America and in other places around the globe. No mention of the fact any agencies claiming steep rises in temperature as measured by their own equipment are being seriously condemned/challenged because of the placement of the temp reading devises, some place in or near paved urban areas where it is known it is warmer due to the concrete and black top retaining heat.

When it is understood the need for grant money can only be satisfied by showing a need for more and more research, then the hysteria being drummed up by these so called :experts” is seen for what it truly is, a grab for money.

We’re having those, too, in California. It’s about 15 degrees BELOW normal. I could go for some global warming here.

Russia, which lost millions of acres of wheat and thousands of lives in a drought worse than any other in the historical record.

A total lie. Yes weather patterns are more variable during sunspot minimums and maximums. (we are just leaving a long minimum) And we have know about this correlation for 100+ years. The MSM is relentlessly trying to resell this BIG LIE. Globull Warming.

Well, thoeretically - he is right.

However, AGW does not exist, so he is vacuusly right.

It like saying “all purple dogs have green teeth.”

Ever seen a purple dog?

I won't click the link and give The Slimes the hit, but I noticed one thing in the excerpt: no mention of man-made globull warming. Any brave person click the link to see if they mention it in the rest of the article?

What they report may be a result of global warming, but, unless we set off all the nukes we have, man hasn't done anything to significantly alter the weather. Climate changes, and we can't control that (yet). The earth's ecosphere is not as fragile as some think, or wish.
