Yeah, its really great to hear some one tell it like it is, even though it puts them in a bad light, we need more people like them.

I have to disagree with you there. I think their opinions carry less weight than that of the average citizen, because they don't live in the same world as the other 98% of us.

They are actually less qualified to speak about the issues that the rest of us.

I see your point, but I think it's a dangerous route to take. After all, nobody EXACTLY lives in the same world as anyone else. You could equally argue (in fact the left often does) that the opinions of White middle-class conservative males have less weight because they are "privileged", and don't live in the same world as "the urban poor", "Hispanic immigrants", "black disabled lesbians", etc etc (enter name of whatever interest group they are promoting).

Of course experience changes your opinions, and it may make you more informed, but at the same time you don't need to have had an experience to have a valid opinion. I've never been run over but I can hold opinions on road safety.
