Friday August 13, 2010First Rush, then Coulter, and Now Glenn Beck ... Whats Happening?
Commentary by John-Henry Westen OReilly asked Beck, Do you believe that gay marriage is a threat to the country in any way? Beck replied, No, I don't, adding sarcastically, Will the gays come and get us? The Glenn Beck revelation comes on the heels of two other startling announcements by conservative celebrity pundits in the last couple of weeks. Earlier this week it was announced that conservative pundit Ann Coulter would headline a fundraiser for the homosexual activist group within the Republican Party, GOProud. And on July 29, although his position had been revealed before, talk radio host Rush Limbaugh again came out in favor of homosexual civil unions, while being opposed to same-sex marriage. To be fair, it must be pointed out that Beck said he was looking at the big picture and promoting faith, the answer to all such things. Moreover, he added that he was okay with gay marriage with a caveat. As long as we are not going down the road of Canada, where it now is a problem for churches to have free speech. If they can still say, hey, we oppose it, he said. But even to have suggested, as strongly as he did, that he was not opposed to gay marriage is detrimental and demonstrates a small picture approach. Beck seems like a good guy. Hes thoughtful. Hes right on many matters in the culture war. For instance, when OReilly followed up and asked if Beck thought abortion threatened the United States, Beck replied dramatically in the affirmative. Abortion is killing, its killing, youre killing someone, he said. So I thought itd be worth it to calmly and persuasively share concerns with Beck on his approach. He may not read my email, but Im sure if enough pro-family folks were to get the message to him, hed reconsider his outlook.

But then again, this is S.F. and they would reelect him anyway...
Our life and traditions are under assault.
Our faith demands that we defend the sanctity of marriage between a man and a women. In the beginning it was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Adam.
I fear for our children and our children's children. Hate the sin but love the sinner. I do not condone same sex marriage.
These attempts are more than just to get marriage approved for same sex couple; it is an insidious attempt to tear apart the fabric of this society and undermine our Judeo-Christian values.
I'll follow the teachings of God over man any day of the week.
I think the root of the next revival is going to be that of gender i.e. God is going to re-align the male-femaale relationship back to health so that the myriad of social problems which have occured because of the dysfunctions in our society can be fixed. So When God's hand is seen restoring male-female love, revivial will occur IMO.
Rush and Coulter are not that out there...even though I am not one of them, there are many conservatives for civil unions (Coulter, I believe, has not said she backs gay marriage). But Beck's position is way wacko. Laura Bush too.
It shocks me that so many conservatives are for gays actually getting married. Something's wrong with their psyche.
After Ronald Reagan left office, the Good Old Pimps thumbed their nose at the Moral Majority and sold their soul in the global market place. These frauds will ALWAYS kowtow to Wall Street and cave on issues of abortion, gay “rights”, illegal immigration. They have abandoned Christian Conservatism for hedonistic “free market” libertarianism.
Oh, and Glenn is mormon and therefore does not see anything wrong with polygamy.... which will be next.
Our propositions should be allowed to stand. They’re vetted and this one was Constitutional. Activist judge had to nitpick and over-reach to find fault. That judge should have recused himself - openly gay, for crying out loud.
Well they might not come for us directly, but if you attend a Catholic or Orthodox Christian Church that has trouble with Finances you may have to dig a Little deeper into your Wallet to keep things afloat after the ACLU gets through with you when the Gays come calling to get Married in your Church and your Pastor says NO. Better Start looking for good Lawyers or you could just renounce your Tax Exempt status and save yourself the Grief
Sodomy is not restricted to gay sex.
If sodomy were punishable by death, we would then have to execute every man or woman, straight or gay, who ever engaged in oral/genital sex.
Lose your head for getting a little head? I should think not.
“You cannot separate the fact that conservative thinking, conservative values have strong ties to Christian teachings!”
I know I wont convince anyone with what I am about to say, but I shall share my story anyway. I used to be extremely anti-gay union of any type. Then I was reunited with a friend I hadn’t seen in 25 years. He revealead he was married, to another man. I stiffled my emotions on the phone long enough to hear his story. The two of them adopted three special needs children that, no heterosexual couples wanted. Two will die before they are mid-20’s. Two are wheelchair-bound for life. All three would have been institutionalized for their childhoods or longer. As I heard his story, images of “christians’ with “God hates fags” signs picketing went through my mind. Sermons about homosexuality that created a harshly judgemental spirit were pulled up from the pit of my memory. Filthy “christians” who wallow in their own putrid sin on internet discussion boards using terms like “cornholing” and “faggot” pierced my heart’s memory.
I am sorry, but a large portion of the chirstian community has sinned in the way they treat homosexuals. I am ashamed of christians who gay bash. Gays have been around forever and they are not going away. Stable home life for them or promote promescuity and disease? I am thankful God convicted my heart on this matter. Jesus may not have condoned gay marriage, but he was against oppression. His harsh criticisms were against the OVERLY religious....NOT the sinners.
I totally understand Beck and Coulter. I am thankful I am at peace. Your denying gays rights divides them and demans them and alienates them from Christ. You have picked a sin to punish in the realm of legal rights. How about we punish idolators with no right to .....say.......use public highways that your tax dollars fund? You sin too, but are not punished by a lack of state benefits! Gays pay taxes too. Good luck ever “loving” them to Christ that way.
I simply stated what the laws were at the time of Jefferson. Most sources for the info that I found also stated that the laws seldom covered acts by women.
The gay rights push is just one prong of a many-pronged attack on the American family. That attack is being made because the family is the building block of our society. It’s being done by the enemies of America who want to tear down our society.
That's exactly where the problem lies: Americans, even conservative ones, no longer stand on principle but takes sides. We like or dislike people rather than hear what the say and see what they do.
It does not even occur to you that you and Beck may simply disagree on a few issues and agree on most others, does it? Hence the confusion: he is on my side but I dislike him --- my goodness, what's happening? Drop sides, liking and disliking --- and confusion disappears at once.
Do you believe that God should apologize for Sodom and Gomorrah? He said "DON'T".
Funny, though I'm not Mormon, I still remember that the LDS put up quite a bit of money.... like $20 million+ from its membership, in order to get Prop 8 to pass.
I am not happy with Beck's comment. I am not a Mormon, I never have been a Mormon. I disagree with the Mormon faith.
But the least we could do is be a little more honest and not act like the Mormon Church supports fag marriage when they rallied so hard against it.

It would be better to drop idolization of paid pundits.
Another way to deal with it is to recognize that Glenn does not have a well organized political outlook.
You might want to read what CS Lewis had to say about he difference between civil and religious services in Mere Christianity.
To: Sandy01
We are not condemning individual people but the political homosexual agenda. A homosexual “union” is not marriage. It is a perversion of marriage. Special rights should not be given based on immoral behavior.
Sandy: “Marriage” is a word not owned by anyone. Nobody is awarding gays any “special” rights for any reason. They are sinning, taxpaying, Americans as YOU ARE.
And nobody is saying God should apologize. You just seem arrogant to think that none of your own sins are bad enough to be denied taxpayer benefits as a result....but theirs are. And YOU throw the stones from the voting booth at them? Do you not see the hypocrisy?
I am at peace. Beck and Coulter and Rush are too. Hypocrisy knows no peace which is why so many “christians” are not at peace on the matter.
Your friend is an exception. Sounds like he's making the best of a bad situation though.
