Lose your head for getting a little head? I should think not.
This comment stands in stark contrast to your tagline. Don't you realize that we won't have the courage to resist taxation like they did in 1773 until we have the spiritual and moral strength they had back then? That was the crux of d'Tocqueville's observations. People who are slaves to sin will be slaves to other men as well.
Sodomy was punishable by death in many states back then. And yet, somehow, they managed to successfully throw off tyranny and write Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Oh, and civil unions are using the power of government to recognize relationships based on perverted sex.
It is wrong, abhorrent, and against the principles of every religion in the world, and the principles that founded our country.

A tough, humorless crowd today. If you dont like my humor, why dont you grab a beer, pop open and slide down the chute and go home. So we are the ones who are "humorless," eh?
You are obviously the self-proclaimed "dick" on the Jet Blue chute. Would your last name happen to be Slater, by chance?
If not, it is a perfect analogy and fits you to a "D."

Do you really want government to imprison two consenting adults for what they do behind the closed doors of their bedroom?

“(Why will it devolved into tyranny? Because without morality power becomes the only authority.)”
Our government devolved into tyranny long ago. Gay marriage is not the cause, but a symptom. Abolishing gay marriage will not make the tyranny go away.
If you wish to limit gay marriage (or champion any other cause moral, social, economic), the way to do it is to limit governmental power.
The founding fathers would be ashamed of what we have wrought, and not just because of gay marriage.

It has nothing to do with closed doors. You know that or you just woke up from a coma of at least two decades’ duration.

I completely agree. In my opinion, the Constitution has been in abeyance for most of my life. So we have two choices--foment a revolution to overturn the whole system and reinstate constitutional federalism or else work within the current oligarchic system to push our agenda items like the left does.
I see no support for a revolution. People are too comfortable and unwilling to take the risks involved.
Hence, we are left with honestly appraising the situation and working within the system to dismantle it from within.
And if that means finding federal judges of our own to dictate policy, so be it.

That’s not even funny. The best way to put this into a humorous form is to add a little subtlety or unexpected surprise - re-arrange your post so it flows better and builds up to the punch line. It also has to be original - you stole my shtick with the Slater allusion - but you didn’t improve on it.
If that fails, I think the only hope for you is to go to slapstick comedy, though it translates with much difficulty to text.

The founding fathers would be disgusted at not only the government but the moral climate. They were perfectly fine with laws against immorality such as sodomy. Didn’t bother them one whit. Thought it perfectly in line with the Constitution, and for many generations after.
To: MindBender26; Antoninus
Do you really want government to imprison two consenting adults for what they do behind the closed doors of their bedroom? At the beginning of our country, most states had sodomy laws. Usually the penalty was death. Most conservatives just want to stop them from getting special rights based on aberrant behavior.

I find it hard to believe that if anyone who cares to lurk before they sign on to post, wouldn’t know what kind of people are on this site.
...speaking of that, did you ever see wikipedias description of this site? Its rather rude & unbecoming. It saddened me to see it.

“not only the government but the moral climate.”
It is my position that the government begat the moral climate.
I hold no hope that you can change the moral climate without significant changes to our government.
Perhaps that is the gist of our difference in opinion.

I find it hard to believe that if anyone who cares to lurk before they sign on to post, wouldnt know what kind of people are on this site. Actually there are quite a few that believe FR should be an open debating society and entertain all views. It's idiotic but there it is.

What I want is lewd and lascivious conduct laws to be enforced against homosexuals who make public parks, public bathrooms, and highway rest-stops a nightmare for ordinary people. I want it to be illegal to advocate gay sex acts to minors in any way. I want it to be illegal for gays to be able to dictate to the rest of us that we must rent to them, employ them, allow them to adopt children, be scout leaders, priests, or accept them as the moral equivalent of married couples.
And, I want them to stop spreading diseases and then telling us it's our fault.
The idea of arresting consenting adults for sodomizing each other is a complete red herring. We've got a real problem with this "community" and it's only getting worse because they are so politically powerful.

You would be wrong. The people have become immoral. And an immoral people beget and tolerate an immoral government. It's axiomatic, I'm afraid.
The American republic has been running on fumes for about 40 years now. Soon, even the fumes will run out.
