Captain Lloyd W. Williams, who was serving as a company commander in the 5th Marines. When advised to withdraw by a French officer at the defensive line just north of the village of Lucy-le-Bocage on June 1, 1918, he is said to have replied: “Retreat? Hell, we just got here!”.

Why is today any different than it was 50 or a 100 years ago. Our politicians and leaders in government are a bunch of faint hearted, gutless wonders, with no spine too boot. If they want to redefine the Marine Corps roll, have the Marines make an amphibious landing just south of San Diego, California and tell them to secure the border, then they will be picked up east of Brownsville, Texas, on the Gulf of Mexico.
