Horse sh**. The constitution was based on God and Christianity, to say it was considered an idol is just BS.

Well that was neither a joke or a news story.
Next time spare us.

So, Jesus was sitting in a bar by himself?

Not if you consider the Constitution and its precursor, the Declaration of Independence, as inspired by “a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence.”

Calm down - the author is saying that we must focus on the Creator, not on the Constitution, for our continued hope.
The Constitution, indeed, is divinely inspired, or based on divine revelation, because it is based on biblical principals.
But, even the bible can become an “idol” if you focus on it instead of the One it reveals.

The Democrats will tell you that Jesus was a big government socialist.
No thanks.

Came here for the roofie reference, where both the democrat and republican slip a roofie into the constitution's drink...... but I guess not.

A Republican walked into a bar holding an alligator. He asked the bartender, “Do you serve Democrats here?” The bartender said, “Yes, we do!” “Good,” replied the man. “Give me a beer, and I’ll have a Democrat for my alligator.”

This commentary might imply that the only way to be true to Christian doctrine is to reject the U.S. Constitution.
But this implication is false.
The Constitution is to be followed as a political document, not as a spiritual faith.
It’s this simple: accepting Jesus in one’s heart as Lord and Saviour does not preclude having a regard for the Constitution as a legitimate political document founding the laws of our nation.

A Republican walks into a bar and sees a Democrat at the end of the bar. The Republican says to the bartender, "I'll have a beer and I'd like to buy a drink for the douchebag at the end of the bar. The bartender says, "OK, but you shouldn't talk about a Democrat like that." The bartender asks the Democrat what he would like. The Democrat says, "I'll have a vinegar and water."
Think about it...
