It’s only when you hear his name (finally) that you realize he’s arab and not jewish.

Here's an insightful post from an MSM 'blog'

I love how abc americanizes his name to hide his ethnic identity. He is Elias Abu-El Azam,an arabic name, not Elias Abuelazam. Stringin the names together is a clumsy way to attempt to hide his ethnicity. He also speaks a Palestinian dialect.

Yes, that’s right. They put the name “Elias” under his mug shot at one point.

There are three regional accents/dialects in Arabic spoken in Israel that I know of ~ the Jerusalem Accent, the West Bank Accent, and the Egyptian Accent.

I understand the Jerusalem Accent is popular among Jews (who learn Arabic) but many Arabs consider it kind of rural!
