Huck: Don't change 14th Amendment

Former Arkansas GOP Gov. Mike Huckabee says he is against changing the 14th Amendment to remove birthright citizenship.

"The Supreme Court has decided that, I think, in three different centuries," Huckabeee said in a radio interview Wednesday with NPR. "In every single instance, they have affirmed that if you are born in this country, you are considered to be a citizen. The only option there is to change the Constitution."...

But asked Wednesday if he supported such a change, Huckabee responded simply: "No."...

Our Founders were clear on what was meant by the 14th Amendment and they enunciated this in those Federalist Papers. If you want to educate yourself, go to Levin's site and read his archives from Tuesday. It is quite clear that the 14th does not allow anchor babies... but activist anti-American justices do.

Uh, the question is how the Federalist Papers from the 1780s discussed the Fourteenth Amendment which was drafted and ratified in the 1860s. Was the Doctor one of the Founding Fathers?

Congress already has all the power they need to stop the children of illegal invaders from obtaining US citizenship. All they lack is the will to do so.

Huckabee is a notorious lightweight when it comes to the Constitution and the history of this country.

I once heard him claim that most of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were clergymen, when in fact only one was.

In the September 2007 “Values Voter” debate he had no idea what the Mexico City policy was. He thought it had something to do with immigration.

Fortunately, one of the authors of the Reagan policy which prevented the use of our money for abortions in other countries, Alan Keyes, was on the stage to correct him.

Allowing children born to illegal aliens in the US to become citizens is like a child being born in your living room to a home invader and claiming to be a resident of your house.

Yep - "Welcome, my Undocumented Houseguest; we must find a way to normalize your presence in our family".

I don’t see that the Constitution has to be amended. But it would be great to see it correctly interpreted. Everyone has to dream I guess.
